Akshay Kumar made his Bollywood debut in 1991 and in these last three decades, has always given fans a minimum of three films every year. Had the pandemic not brought lives to screeching halts, he was all set to repeat history this year too. One of the films in the pipeline is Aanand L Rai’s 'Raksha Bandhan'.
Kumar announced the film on the occasion of his birthday last year and it was all set to release this year on November 5. Due to Covid-19, a new release date is to be announced by the makers. But what has made the actor happy is that he has roped in Bhumi Pednekar as his leading lady for the drama. This would be their third collaboration after ‘Toilet- Ek Prem Katha’ and ‘Durgamati’, which he co-produced.
The actor wrote- “When you are happy, it shows. And indeed we are…to have @bhumipednekar onboard #RakshaBandhan." [SIC]

Just like Kumar, Pednekar too has established the knack for giving multiple films in quick succession. In the last year and a half, the actress has had films like 'Bala', 'Saand Ki Aankh', 'Sonchiriya', 'Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan' (cameo), 'Bhoot- The Haunted Ship' (cameo again), 'Pati Patni Aur Woh', and 'Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare'.
Kumar, on the other hand, is gearing up for 'Raksha Bandhan' (as stated), 'Bell Bottom', 'Sooryavanshi', 'Bachchan Pandey', a film with ‘Mission Mangal’ director Jagan Shakti, 'Ram Setu', 'Atrangi Re', 'Prithviraj', 'Oh My God! 2', and perhaps many more to come.
