Ranveer Singh's 'Don 3' to be most expensive film in the franchise with budget of Rs 275 crore

Ranveer Singh's 'Don 3' will outshine the Shah Rukh Khan-starrers 'Don' and 'Don 2' in terms of budget. Director Farhan Akhtar plans on making it the biggest film of his career

Filmmaker Farhan Akhtar is all set to take his movie 'Don 3' on floors later this year. The torch is now being passed to none other than Ranveer Singh, who steps into the shoes of Shah Rukh Khan to take on the role of the new Don. This legendary figure once again finds himself in the crosshairs of the relentless '11 mulkon ki police' (police of 11 countries). The next installment of 'Don' is also said to outshine SRK's 'Don' in terms of budget. 

According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, 'Don 3' is being mounted on a staggering budget of Rs 275 crore. Quoting a source close to the project, the portal reported, "Don 1 and Don 2 with Shah Rukh Khan were made on decent budgets, but with Don 3, Farhan Akhtar aims to make a global film. The vision with Don 3 is not just to compete with action films of India, but also to go global on the scale front. Don 3 is Farhan's attempt to make a global action thriller and no one better than Ranveer Singh to spearhead the franchise in the new era."

The budget of Rs 275 crore is excluding the publicity expense, revealed the report. "The action has been visualized in a way that Don 3 stands tall against the Spy Universe. However, what separates Don 3 from other action films of India is the protagonist, who has shades of negative elements," the source added. 

'Don 3' will also introduce Kiara Advani into the universe as the leading lady. Talking about taking up an action role in 'Don 3' movie, the actress said, "I think it's a conscious decision, I wanted to do something different. I wanted to change it up for myself, and this was one genre that I was longing to get myself into. And that's what's exciting, right? As an actor, you are constantly stepping into different characters and making the world believe that that's who you are. There will be a tough prep for the film, but  I've got time to do that. I'm very excited, I've never done an action movie so. Now's my time to get some action in!(sic.)"
