Sajid Khan to sing in chorus for his next Housefull

Sajid Khan has a good ear for music. He knows almost every Hindi song from old and new films. Even the unpopular ones.

The director is also an avid collector of old LPs that have rare unreleased Bollywood tracks. His next release Housefull has a total of eight tracks, which comprises of five originals and three remixes. One of the songs in Apni Toh Jaise Taise from Laawaris for which Sajid is part of the chorus along with the film's composer Shankar Mahadevan.

He confirms, "I have sung the chorus with Shankar Mahadevan for Apni Toh Jaise Taise. I also say a few lines in between of the song. I remember as a DJ, I would even crack jokes in the middle of the tracks and people loved that. DJ Whosane has been a close friend, and has collaborated with me on the Housefull remixes. I can promise you that the soundtrack will get everyone on the dance floor."

Once upon a DJ
Not many know that before becoming a anchor (and later, a director), Khan was a DJ. He played music at clubs as well as private parties. Talking about his connection with music, Khan says, "Music has been my passion. But I am very clear about the kind of music I used to play as a DJ. I'd cater to the crowd and make sure everyone had a good time. Rather than mixing and showing off my skills, I'd play a mash up of some popular numbers.

I remember doing a mix up of Jumma Chumma and Tamma Tamma which got everyone on the dance floor."
Sajid is a still a hot favourite at private parties. "I have played at Chunky's, Maheep's, and some other personal friends' parties. I am always asked to play DJ. I think knowing what's popular and giving the crowd is a good time has always been my priority."
