Akshay Kumar praises Twinkle Khanna after contestant’s PhD story on Wheel of Fortune India: 'You ladies are great'

Spinning the wheel, guessing letters, and solving puzzles is par for the course on Wheel of Fortune India. But often, superstar and the show’s host Akshay Kumar gives us memorable moments with the contestants — as he did while taping the latest episode, which will air on television today. It turns out the superstar was taken by 58-year-old contestant Ashu Jain’s journey, as she pursued her PhD at 47, thus proving that age is just a number.   
    
In the episode, Jain shared that she completed her Master of Technology (MTech) at the age of 44, began her PhD at 47, and completed it at 53. That reminded Kumar of his wife and author Twinkle Khanna, who pursued a Master’s programme in fiction writing at Goldsmiths, University of London, in 2022. She completed the programme in January 2024 at the age of 50. Listening to Jain’s story, Kumar said, “Inhe dekh kar mujhe meri wife ki yaad aa gayi. My wife also completed her Master’s programme when she was 50 years old, and now she wants to pursue her PhD as well. You ladies are great.”

The contestant, who is a fitness influencer today, also shared that she first stepped inside a gym when she was 54 years old. Now, she is a regular at her Zumba classes and even runs marathons. She added, “Now, I comfortably run 15 km.”
