With audiences now seeking immersive theatrical experiences, the genre offers a compelling mix of scale, emotion, and visual storytelling that transcends language barriers. Rooted in mythology yet driven by modern imagination, fantasy has become one of the most future-facing genres for Indian filmmakers. Filmmaker and producer Suraj Singh, whose banner Blive is backing the fantasy film Rahu Ketu, sheds light on why he focuses on developing ambitious fantasy-led narratives. Producer Suraj Singh on the popularity of fantasy narratives Suraj Singh believes the timing has never been better to produce fantasy-driven films. The upcoming comedy, Rahu Ketu, starring Pulkit Samrat and Varun Sharma in lead roles, belongs to the fantasy genre, inspired by Hindu folklore and mythology. Pulkit and Varun play modern-day avatars of the celestial bodies Rahu and Ketu. According to him, Indian audiences are no longer hesitant about embracing imagined worlds—especially when they are inspired by familiar mythological and cultural references. Films like Ramayana and Naagzilla, slated for release this year, have already generated strong anticipation, reflecting the growing appetite for spectacle-driven storytelling. The year also begins on a fantasy note with Rahu Ketu, a project that has raised audience expectations early on. Sharing his perspective on why the genre is connecting so strongly today, Suraj Singh says: “Fantasy and mythology have always worked in India, but today the scale has changed. Audiences are eagerly waiting for films like Ramayana and Naagzilla because they want spectacle with emotion. Starting the year with Rahu Ketu has raised hopes for what Indian fantasy can achieve. VFX and imagination now allow us to present our stories the way we always envisioned them. 09 January,2026 11:12 AM IST | Mumbai | IANSSeems like second time is not quite the charm for Kapil Sharma and the makers of Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2. The film, originally released in theaters on December 12, was scheduled for a re-release on January 9. The makers chose to re-release the film as its initial theatrical run was impacted by the lack of screen availability due to the impact of Dhurandhar 2 at the box office. However, the same seems to have repeated for January 9 re-release. Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon re-release stalled Reportedly, the makers decided to hit the brakes on the re-release owing to a lack of screen availability and unfavourable show timings. These were the issues that the makers faced during the film's initial release, restricting its reach to the audience. Initially, announcing the re-release producer Ratan Jain of Venus Cinema had said, "We’re delighted to return with a film that celebrates joy, laughter, and wholesome family entertainment," emphasising the intention behind reintroducing the comedy to theatres. Audience demand and the festive New Year period were key factors in planning the re-release, aiming for a more favourable window to reach cinema-goers. More about Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 Director Goswami insists that the Kapil Sharma-starrer — also starring Manjot Singh, Hira Warina, and Tridha Choudhary — is rooted in that lineage of feel-good, family-friendly humour. But it is his leading man’s comic timing that is central to the story. “Kapil has worked so much in non-fiction that his comic timing comes naturally. He knows exactly how much the scene requires. He improvises beautifully, but he also knows when to hold back. Akshay Kumar and Govinda are great artistes in comedy, and after them, Kapil is great. When I worked with him, I saw a star in him.” Get ready to revisit the marriage mayhem as Kapil Sharma juggles not one, but four marriages in Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2. Along with Kapil, the film introduces Hira Warina, Tridha Choudhary, Parul Gulati, and Ayesha Khan, as they continue the madness with Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2, staying true to its signature mix of comedy, confusion, and chaos that made the original a fan favourite. Directed by Anukalp Goswami. Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 is set to entertain audiences once again in January 2026, release date will be announced shortly.
