Actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who recently attended the Bridge Summit in the UAE, has spoken up about the stereotypes that actors from Eastern countries have to fight in the West. When asked about how actors navigate rejecting lucrative offers that do not align with their long-term vision, in reference to actor Matthew McConaughey turning down multi-million dollar rom-com offers to pursue more diverse roles, the actress talked about her own experience of fighting typecasting in the American entertainment industry. She said, "So when I started looking for or seeking work in America, I cannot tell you how many times I said no to being, you know, the Indian girl who is supposed to speak with the exaggerated accent, be just pretty and, you know, sort of ornamental, that girl. And I was so surprised by how many, like, characters were written with that stereotype. And I really had to fight that for a couple of years until I got Quantico, which is a TV show of mine, where I played an FBI agent”. The actress emphasized how her show Quantico proved to be transformative because it wasn't written with ethnicity as a defining characteristic. She further mentioned, “I could have been from anywhere. My background could have been anything. It was written for an American person. And I just had to, you know, play an American girl. And I'm an actor. I could do that. But it took that many no's for me to get my first break, which changed everything for me, because now I was seen just as a commercial actor, not as the Indian actor. But I had to fight that stereotype”. She continued, “And I know so many... So much talent who go from Eastern countries have to fight the stereotype of casting in Hollywood. But, you know, like, we're out there. There are so many of us now making and doing so much incredible work. But that was really tough”. She also shared advice for aspiring actors and professionals, as she said, "So I think you have to decide. What's the cohort you want to live with? What's the cohort you want to work with? What kind of room do you want to be in? What are the kind of people you want to be surrounded by? And then your decisions become the basis of that. The no and the yes become the basis that”, she added. This story has been sourced from a third party syndicated feed, agencies. 10 December,2025 10:47 AM IST | Los Angeles | ANICuba Gooding Jr’s Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace premieres on Lionsgate Play this December 12 Get ready for a war where heaven and hell collide. Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace, a high‑impact fusion of modern warfare and apocalyptic fantasy, storms onto Lionsgate Play this December 12th. From director Ali Zamani, this action‑fantasy film thrusts you into a world scarred by the Iraq War, where an ex‑soldier’s second chance at life becomes the last line of defence against an army of the dead. This is not just a mission; it is a spiritual battleground fought with bullets, blades, and belief. Plot of Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace The story tracks Gabriel (Josh Burdett), an Iraq War veteran haunted by trauma, who receives a mysterious calling from a higher power and is drawn into a covert mission to stop a fallen angel from raising a demonic army that could wipe out humanity. He assembles his old platoon and joins forces with a legendary cadre known as the Warriors of Peace, whose experience in supernatural combat may be the only thing standing between Earth and annihilation. Among his most enigmatic allies is Balthazar, played by Academy Award-winner Cuba Gooding Jr., a powerful celestial figure whose true motives are as intriguing as the war he is trying to prevent. Cuba Gooding Jr speaks about the film Speaking about how he came onto the project, Cuba Gooding Jr. said, “It was interesting because they had completed most of the movie when I came aboard. So the advantage of that was that the directors sent me some of the footage to see these creatures in this world in its actual space and activity. And they were like, we're going to implement your character into this world that we created of demons versus angels. And I was like, that's awesome." Talking about his excitement at working with the Directors, Gooding Jr. continued, “The Zamani brothers, as we know, Ali, who's the director, and his brother, who produces Zeus, they come from that visual world of doing commercials and having established themselves in their world. So they knew exactly what they wanted to do. They knew exactly how they wanted it to look. And it was one of those things where you were like, wow, man, if for no other reason, I just want to be in business with these guys so that I know what their next thing is.”

Jordan, 38, referred to Eddie Murphy’s character in the 1995 vampire horror comedy ‘Vampire in Brooklyn’. “The world’s last vampire is about to encounter something infinitely more terrifying than himself, Brooklyn”, the narrator says in the film’s trailer. As per ‘People’, Eddie Murphy, 64, plays the undead vampire alongside Angela Bassett’s Detective Rita Veder, whom the vampire wants to turn into his eternal lover. Thirty years after Murphy’s take on vampires, Jordan added his name to the list of cinematic vampires with his film ‘Sinners’, which is in contention for the Oscars. 08 December,2025 10:24 PM IST | Los Angeles | IANSActor-producer Dakota Johnson has candidly revealed the challenges and rewards of her career, describing a "love-hate relationship" with acting and producing due to the "shady" side of the entertainment industry and the emotional battles she faces as a performer, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Speaking at the Red Sea International Film Festival's "In Conversation With" series on Friday, Johnson reflected on her journey in Hollywood and her push to become a producer through her company TeaTime Pictures. "Financiers are really shady sometimes. It is heartbreaking. As a producer, it can be very heartbreaking. As an actress, it can be heartbreaking," she said, adding that despite the hurdles, both roles are "incredibly fulfilling." Johnson, the daughter of actors Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, spoke at length about her difficulties with the darker side of Hollywood, something she has had to deal with more and more since she moved into producing and financing her projects. "Financiers are really shady sometimes. It is heartbreaking. As a producer, it can be very heartbreaking. As an actress, it can be heartbreaking," she said, before adding, "But then both [producing and acting] are so incredibly fulfilling, and I feel very grateful that I'm able to do both," as quoted by the outlet. She added that she found producing as more of a challenge than acting because "there's something about acting where I feel I'm in a bubble, and with producing you see behind the curtain, and it's really ugly." Adding that she both doesn't like that, but also loves it at the same time, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Her production house TeaTime Pictures, co-run with best friend Ro Donnelly, has backed films including Splitsville (2025), Daddio (2023), Am I OK? (2022), and Sundance-winning Cha Cha Real Smooth (2022). Johnson noted that the company focuses on "mostly female-driven, human experience projects," and is producing her directorial debut, A Tree Is Blue, starring Jessica Alba. Reflecting on her acting career, Johnson highlighted particularly meaningful projects, such as The Peanut Butter Falcon (2019), working with Luca Guadagnino on A Bigger Splash (2015) and Suspiria (2018), and collaborating with Maggie Gyllenhaal on The Lost Daughter (2021). She described the experiences as deeply inspiring, praising her co-stars and directors for their guidance and emotional intelligence. Johnson also expressed admiration for the emerging Saudi film scene, calling the festival and its emphasis on female filmmakers from the Middle East, Africa, and Asia "inspiring" and crediting it with renewing her faith in cinema, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
