"Two and A Half Men" star Ashton Kutcher has thrown his financial support behind a new technological start-up company, which allows users to make payments with their smartphones.

The 34-year-old actor's venture capital company A-Grade Investments has teamed up with four other investors to help finance Iowa-based firm Dwolla, which aims to enable users to transfer money or pay for items with their mobile phone for a flat fee of 25 cents per transaction, reported Contactmusic.

Kutcher says he is excited about the new business venture. "I think this company could employ hundreds of people within the next couple of years. The potential for Dwolla is to be the backbone for the global financial exchange. Because it's built to do that.

It's built better than any system that currently exists," he said. The Cedar Rapids native has backed a number of forward-thinking companies in recent years, among them social networking site Foursquare and video calling corporation Skype.u00a0
