The 30-year-old actress will play the evil version of pop star Katy Perry's alter-ego Smurfette, in the follow up to the 2011 movie based on the Belgian comic characters,

The Hollywood Reporter said. Much of the cast is expected to return for the sequel, which again sees Gosnell in the director's seat. The film will hit the theatres on July 31, 2013.
Ricci most recently starred in the short-lived ABC series 'Pan Am' and will appear in the perdiod drama "Bel Ami" with "Twilight" star Robert Pattinson and Uma Thurman.
