The actor had sliced his hand open during an impromptu and unscripted breaking of a mirror. "I hit the mirror. It was just a choice in that moment that happened," said the actor.

Gyllenhaal had to get stitches before he returned to work again. Talking about the injury, director Dan Gilroy quipped, "The movie has become a permanent part of his (Jake's) physical being."

'Nightcrawler', which is being released in India this Friday by PVR Director's Rare, is a thriller set in the nocturnal underbelly of contemporary Los Angeles.

Gyllenhaal stars as Lou Bloom, a driven young man desperate for work who discovers the high-speed world of LA crime journalism.
