"I am really happy being a drama queen and this is how it's done," said Priyanka Chopra, while accepting the People's Choice Award for Favourite Dramatic TV Actress for her performance in the American series, Quantico. Barely a few hours after fetching her gong, the actress tells hitlist from Los Angeles, "I am too shocked right now. Did it really happen?"

Priyanka's Alex Parrish was pitted against the likes of Ellen Pompeo's Meredith Grey from Grey's Anatomy, and Scandal star Kerry Washington (Olivia Pope) for the honour, and the actress describes her win as "the best start to 2017". "Look at the women in this category! These are the women who inspired my own journey. Just to be nominated alongside them is huge. Last year, I won the Favourite Actress in a New TV series category, but getting awarded in the primary category this time is absolutely overwhelming," she said.

While she is a household name in the US today, Priyanka owes her success to the training she received in India. "When I am out on the road or at the airport, I get a sense of how much people love my show. They compliment my work all the time. The feeling of coming from another country and making a mark here cannot be put into words. I win here, as I did back home, because I have been trained by the best filmmakers, actors and colleagues. The confidence that I have in my craft has come from working with them."

While PeeCee is evidently cherishing her victory today, earlier this week, she found herself in the midst of a crisis after being rushed to the hospital on incurring an injury on set. Insisting that she is recovering, the actress informs, "I took three days off from work and am not supposed to perform any action sequences for a while. I got a little worried because I've never had a concussion before."

Ahead of her Hollywood debut, Baywatch, set to release in May, PeeCee says that she commands a stronger position than the other debutants, because of her show. "Most people may or may not know Priyanka Chopra but they definitely know Alex Parrish. I've chosen my debut carefully. [Baywatch] is the reboot of a legendary film and has such an amazing cast. Next up, I want to see how Hollywood reacts to me," she signs off.
