On Saturday evening, Laura took to her Instagram Story to speak about the situation around her. Many travelers have been left waiting for updates, unsure of when they will be able to fly back home. Videos that are now circulating on social media show crowded airport terminals, with passengers anxiously waiting for official announcements. Earlier in the day, four people were injured after an Iranian drone struck Dubai International Airport, causing reported damage inside a passenger terminal, according to Al Jazeera. Emergency teams were dispatched immediately in coordination with relevant authorities, Al Jazeera said, citing Dubai Airports' media office. The incident occurred amid escalating tensions in the region, following joint missile strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran. Large explosions were reported in Tehran and other major cities. Iranian state media claimed that Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed in the attacks. This story has been sourced from a third party syndicated feed, agencies. Jim Carrey receives honorary Cesar Award, gives emotional speech in French

Actor Jim Carrey received the honorary award at the 51st edition of France's Cesar Award ceremony on Thursday. At the ceremony, the actor delivered an emotional speech entirely in French, reported Variety. According to the outlet, Carrey, star of The Mask and How the Grinch Stole Christmas, was honoured with the award that is traditionally given to an international star, such as last year's Julia Roberts. He was introduced on stage by Michel Gondry, who directed him in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind in 2004. In his award acceptance speech, Carrey said, "As an actor, each character you play is like clay in the sculptor's hands, which you shape to your heart's desire. How fortunate I have been to share this art with so many people who have truly opened their hearts to me," as quoted by Variety. The actor attended the event with his daughter Jane, grandson Jackson and girlfriend Mina. "Thank you to my wonderful family, my daughter Jane, and my grandson Jackson. I love you now and forever. Thank you to my sublime companion, Mina. I love you, Mina. And finally, thank you to the funniest man I have ever known: my father. Percy Joseph Carrey who taught me the value of love, generosity, and laughter," said Jim Carrey as quoted by Variety. At the end of his speech, he asked the audience, "So, how was my French? Almost mediocre, right? Forgive me, I didn't speak French, but I'm just learning it. My tongue is tired." Carrey, born in Canada, began his career as a stand-up comedian before he gained popularity on the TV show In Living Color. In 1994, he became a worldwide star with three back-to-back hits: Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Mask, and Dumb and Dumber, reported Deadline. Jennifer Garner cannot promise her kids she won't get a facelift

Hollywood star Jennifer Garner, who has previously tried Botox injections but doesn't plan to get them again, hasn't ruled out undergoing any bigger cosmetic procedures in the future. Speaking to Kylie Kelce on her Not Gonna Lie podcast, the actress, who has Violet, Fin, and Samuel, with ex-husband Ben Affleck, said: “My kids are like, ‘Mom, promise us you'll never get a facelift.’ And I say, ‘I am unlikely to rush toward a facelift.' "And yet I refuse to make that promise because I am me today, and I don't know how I'm gonna feel.” Meanwhile, Jennifer Garner shared that she loves working with children of varying ages because there is always something she can learn about being a better mother to her own children, reports femalefirst.co.uk. She said: "I love the intimacy of that relationship, whether they're a toddler and I get to become best buddies with a toddler, or whether it's a little kid, a teenager or a young adult. I just I love them. "And they help give me perspective on myself as a parent. I'm practicing that relationship, even practicing the friction of it, and [finding] ways that I can take that home and do a better job." Garner told Kylie, who has four daughters under the age of six with husband Jason Kelce, that a key lesson she has learned over the years is when to "stay quiet" around her brood. She added: "Because, really, your kids get to a point, and I hate to say this to you because you're so far from this, and it's really rude, but they get to a point where you're not supposed to tell them everything. You're supposed to stay quiet. "I don't know when that happens, but all of a sudden, it's not on you, and you're actually — you're in trouble." She recently shared her and Affleck's kids think she is "embarrassing". When asked on The Jennifer Hudson Show what she does to gain "cool points" from her kids, she said: "I am fully cringe. I am only embarrassing." This story has been sourced from a third party syndicated feed, agencies. Still from The Secret Agent

The Secret Agent review: Wagner Moura anchors tale of Brazil's troubled past

The Secret Agent is set in Brazil in 1977, when the country was under military dictatorship, described as a ‘period of great mischief’ by the film’s intertitle. Marcelo (Wagner Moura), a widower who is on the lam, arrives in his hometown, Recife, to reunite with his son Fernando (Enzo Nunes), who lives with his late wife’s parents. Marcelo is provided refuge by the kind and spirited Dona Sebastiana (Tania Maria), who harbours a couple of other political refugees in her building. The fugitives celebrate the Carnival exuberantly, though their lives are under threat by the dictatorship. Ironically, living under a fake alias, Marcelo (whose real name is Armando), gets a job at a state identification office, and makes it his mission to find his late mother’s ID card in the archives. As the film unfolds, we learn why Marcelo, despite not exactly being a dissident, insurrectionist or even a secret agent, as the title suggests, finds it necessary to flee the country. The film is divided into three parts, and fragments of Marcelo's life under the military dictatorship are reconstructed by two college students in the present, through audio recordings made by the resistance group. The narrative is haunted by death. The film opens with an abandoned and unclaimed corpse rotting at a petrol pump that Marcelo pulls up at. A casualty of the Carnival, the body is covered with cardboard, with a swarm of flies hovering above and a pack of dogs attacking it. Two police officers show up, not to check the corpse but to intimidate Marcelo and ask for a bribe. The sequence is morbid and macabre, with a touch of black comedy, effectively crystallising the theme of the film. The motif of the severed leg keeps appearing throughout the film. A severed human leg is found inside the stomach of a beached great white shark; a disgustingly gory spectacle. It captures the attention of the locals as they are swept in a shark mania, including Fernando, who insists on seeing Jaws despite having nightmares from its poster alone. As the local police department, headed by Euclides (Roberio Diogenes), continues killing people using the chaos of the carnival, the leg takes on a life of its own. The press sensationalises it into an urban legend, spreading rumours of a supernatural “hairy leg” hopping around at night and attacking people. Wagner Moura's performance is a highlight. He displays immense range, portraying Marcelo with a cloak of hurt, vulnerability and weariness along with a sense of urgency looming over him. Director Kleber Mendonca Filho underscores the socio-political turmoil by focusing on common people, whose very existence is reproached by the despotic state. The pacing is slow, allowing viewers to absorb the milieu and observe the characters to add to the realism. Each frame is packed with colour and sensuous details. Akin to the conjoined cat in Dona Sebastiana's apartment, Filho's narrative always seems to be looking two ways. The opening montage of snapshots mixes the personal and political. Scenes of violence are interspersed with anarchic humour. The raucous Carnival music saturates the air, people dress up in folk costumes and jubiliate in pagan revelry while a newspaper headline announces that the Carnival death toll has risen to 91. The Secret Agent's brilliance lies in the way the incongruent details come together to form a bigger picture.

Vin Diesel calls Sinners 'one of the best films of the year'

Hollywood star Vin Diesel has heaped praise on filmmaker Ryan Coogler's Oscar-nominated film Sinners, calling it "one of the best films of the year." Taking to Instagram, Diesel shared a lengthy note reflecting on the journey of Sinners, which recently earned a record-breaking 16 nominations at the 98th Academy Awards. "Having seen some great performances and beautifully executed cinematic storytelling, I'd like to take a moment to reflect on one such story...Sinners! Sixteen Oscar nominations. The most in the history of the Academy Awards... Wow, Sidney Poitier would be proud. What was once a door he had to kick open, has now become a stage where filmmakers of color don't just show up, they literally rewrite the record books. Profound. That is the continuum...", Diesel wrote.           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Vin Diesel (@vindiesel) The actor, known for the Fast and Furious franchise, revealed that he first heard about the "vampire movie" through friends and later watched it with his family, who were already fans of Coogler's Black Panther. "So many great things to say about this film. The beautifully articulated portrayal of a twin's existence- myself, of course being a twin. The rich historical exploration of culture and the unsung heroes whose contributions shaped it. Naturally, I wanted to read more about the auteur who made it... Past his defiant insistence on being compensated fairly, negotiating an ownership reversion deal that does more for the plight... than most recent achievements in this industry. Past the box office dominance. Past the critical acclaim. I kept reading. And then I saw it," he added. Vin Diesel went on to give a nod to filmmaker Ryan Coogler, expressing great pride in watching him standing on the "biggest stage in cinema." "The grit, the culture, the soul... When I say the pride was through the roof, I mean it. To see a young brother come this far, to the biggest stage in cinema... all while preserving that unique voice and adding a deep, resonant spin on a classic cinematic trope? That's not just impressive. That's Oakland! Sinners is hands down, one of the best films of the year," Diesel concluded. The nominations for the 98th Academy Awards were announced in January, with Sinners leading the race with 16 nods--the most ever for a single film. The previous record was jointly held by Titanic, La La Land, and All About Eve. Starring Michael B Jordan in the lead, the supernatural thriller received nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor for Jordan, Best Supporting Actress for Wunmi Mosaku, Best Supporting Actor for Delroy Lindo, Original Screenplay, Casting, Production Design, Cinematography, Costume design, Film Editing, Makeup and Hairstyling, Sound, Visual Effects, Original Score, and Original Song for I Lied to You, reported Variety. Sinners has also emerged as the seventh movie to be nominated in every technical category, reported Variety. This story has been sourced from a third party syndicated feed, agencies. Lupita Nyong'o talks about dealing with over 50 fibroids

Hollywood actress Lupita Nyong'o has opened up about her "over 50" uterine fibroids. The 42-year-old actress was first diagnosed with the condition, which sees non-cancerous growths developing in or around the uterus and can cause symptoms including long and heavy periods, and pain in the pelvis, back, and leg, 11 years ago. She admitted things are worse this time around, with few treatment options available, reports ‘Female First UK’. Speaking on Today, she said, “The first time I got the fibroids taken out, they took out 23. And this time, I’ve been informed two years ago that I have over 50. And I’m being faced with the same options. Surgery or live with the pain”. The actress is "not ready" to decide whether to have the fibroids surgically removed because of the "big threat" to any future family plans. She said, “I’m not ready to make that decision. It’s quite invasive… and it’s a big threat to our reproductive organs”. As per ‘Female First UK’, not only does she have dozens of fibroids, but some of them are very large. Lupita said, “When you have fibroids, doctors usually use fruit to explain to you what size your fibroids are. So your fibroid could be the size of a grape. My biggest fibroid is the size of an orange”. The Black Panther actress recalled feeling "shame" and fear when she was first diagnosed with fibroids, but she's found "community" since opening up about her condition. She said, “I felt shame. What did I do to cause them? And I felt very alone and quite scared for my reproductive health. I’m excited right now because speaking up has really empowered me. I’ve found a community”. “I’ve locked arms with women who have been fighting this fight for a long time. There’s a lot of power in speaking up. I spoke up and the amount of support I got hearing women say ‘me too’ and share their stories made me feel less alone and it’s honestly what has bolstered me to do the work that I do now”, she added. John Davidson breaks silence on BAFTA Tourette's incident

Scottish Tourette's syndrome activist John Davidson has spoken publicly for the first time after his involuntary vocal tics disrupted the 79th BAFTA Awards, including the use of offensive slurs during the live ceremony. In an interview with Variety, Davidson described the distress he experienced on the night and clarified that his words were the result of an involuntary neurological response- not intent. Davidson, the real-life inspiration behind the film I Swear, attended the ceremony after the project, which chronicles his life living with Tourette's, received six nominations. During the event, his vocal tics were audible as actors Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo presented an award. Davidson's team has since confirmed that he has reached out to the studio handling Sinners to directly apologise to Jordan, Lindo and production designer Hannah Beachler. Addressing widespread coverage of the incident, Davidson said many people misunderstand Tourette's syndrome, particularly the symptom known as coprolalia- the involuntary use of obscene or offensive language. "Very often, the media focuses on my particular type of Tourette's, which is called coprolalia," he explained, noting that the symptom affects between 10per cent and 30 per cent of people with the condition and is not required for diagnosis. He added that it remains one of the hardest tics to manage and can cause significant distress. Davidson stressed that his tics "have absolutely nothing to do with what I think, feel or believe". He described them as "an involuntary neurological misfire," adding, "My tics are not an intention, not a choice and not a reflection of my values." He acknowledged that one of the offensive words uttered during the ceremony was a racial slur, saying he fully understands its historical and modern significance. However, he clarified that he ticked "perhaps 10 different offensive words" throughout the evening and that the focus on a single term has created a misleading impression. "What you're hearing is a symptom -- not my character, not my thought, not my belief," he said, in an interview with Variety. Davidson revealed that attending the BAFTAs was both meaningful and physically challenging. He has lived with Tourette's for nearly 40 years and underwent serious heart surgery just five weeks before the ceremony. "This was an awards ceremony that featured six nominations connected to a film that told the story of my life," he said, adding that he is also an executive producer on the project and had worked on it for three years. He said he expected that members of the audience- many of whom had seen 'I Swear'- would understand his condition. He also believed precautions would be in place regarding broadcast audio. StudioCanal was working closely with BAFTA, and attendees had been informed that any swearing would be edited out of the broadcast. Davidson, who has previously made four documentaries with the BBC, said he had anticipated greater awareness and sound management, particularly as he was seated approximately 40 rows from the stage. Reflecting on the auditorium setup, he noted that a microphone was positioned near his seat. "With hindsight I have to question whether this was wise," he said. Davidson described the escalating anxiety he felt as the ceremony progressed. Initially, his tics consisted of noises and movements. As his nerves intensified, so did his vocal tics. "When my coprolalia tics came out, my stomach just dropped," he said, adding, "As always, I felt a wave of shame and embarrassment hit me all at once. You want the floor to swallow you up." He said he hoped attendees would recognise that he could not control what was happening. "Please don't judge me. Please understand this isn't who I am," he recalled thinking. The moment he realised his tics had reached the stage was when Jordan and Lindo appeared to look up from their presenting duties. Soon after, Davidson chose to leave the auditorium. BAFTA arranged for him to watch the remainder of the ceremony from a private room. Davidson has long campaigned to improve understanding of Tourette's and said the reaction to the BAFTAs demonstrates how much work remains. He shared that he has previously faced violent assault due to his condition and continues to encounter damaging misconceptions- including claims that people with Tourette's only say offensive words if they secretly believe them. Comments suggesting he should "stay inside" or that his tics reflect racism have been "deeply upsetting," he said. Davidson also requested careful language in reporting, preferring Tourette's to be described as a "condition" rather than a disability. "The awards were a heightened version of my everyday life," he reflected, adding, "They are the reason why, for many periods in my life, I have been fearful of leaving the house." BAFTA 2026: BBC orders internal probe after racial slur goes on air

The Director-General of the BBC has ordered a fast-tracked internal investigation after a racial slur was broadcast during the BAFTA ceremony earlier this week. The broadcaster called the incident a “serious mistake” and confirmed that its Executive Complaints Unit will review how the remark was aired despite a two-hour delay between filming and transmission. BBC orders probe into BAFT broadcast blunder Tourette’s campaigner John Davidson, who inspired one of the winning films, said he was “deeply mortified” after shouting the N-word during the ceremony, attributing it to an involuntary tic. The slur was heard while actors Delroy Lindo and Michael B. Jordan were presenting an award. The remark also remained available on the BBC’s streaming platform iPlayer until the following morning. Director-General Tim Davie has instructed the Executive Complaints Unit to complete a swift inquiry and respond to viewers. The move was welcomed by Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy, who described the broadcast of the slur as “completely unacceptable and harmful.” The controversy follows earlier criticism of the BBC’s coverage of the Glastonbury Festival, when a livestream of punk-rap duo Bob Vylan included an anti-Israel chant. The broadcaster later apologised and announced it would no longer live-stream performances deemed “high risk.” Reports suggest that Warner Bros. raised immediate concerns about the BAFTA slur and requested its removal, but it remained in the final broadcast. Davidson, who has previously worked with the BBC on documentaries, said the broadcaster should have anticipated the risks associated with Tourette’s and taken stronger precautions. The BBC acknowledged the error made during the BAFTA broadcast and ordered an urgent probe as political and industry scrutiny intensifies. What John Davidson said about his involuntary action? Jennifer Garner breaks silence on life with Ben Affleck after split

Hollywood actress Jennifer Garner has opened up about the realities of co-parenting her three children with her former husband, Ben Affleck. Describing both the “loss” and the lessons that come with raising children across two households, Jennifer, 53, made the remarks during an appearance on Bustle’s One Nightstand YouTube series, where she discussed bringing up Violet, 20, Fin, 17, and Samuel, 13, following her split from Ben Affleck, 53, to whom the actress was married from 2005 until 2018, reports ‘Female First UK’. Speaking to host Charlotte Owen, Jennifer said when the children are with her, she has to “become mom and dad”, and there is a “loss” that comes with co-parenting. Addressing how she finds the balance in raising her children with a “conscientious upbringing” and “appreciation”, Jennifer added, “And I think my kids’ dad does too. Especially when your kids grow up in two separate households, I become mom and dad and he becomes dad and mom”. She further mentioned, “You kind of can’t help it, right? Because you don’t have the benefit of both sides of the yin and yang being in the same house. There’s a little bit of loss in that, but there’s also something gained in that. You also just learn. It’s made me let go and not focus so much on bringing up”. As per ‘Female First UK’, last month, Jennifer described the breakdown of her marriage as “hard”. She told Marie Claire UK, “You have to be smart about what you can and can’t handle, and I could not handle what was out there. The fact of it is what was hard. The actual breaking up of a family is what was hard. Losing a true partnership and friendship is what was hard”. Jennifer added putting her children first never felt like a sacrifice, despite her career in Hollywood. She said, “It never felt like a sacrifice. It was really hard to go to work and it definitely shaped the jobs I chose, in a big way”. And speaking about navigating public scrutiny, Jennifer went on, “Not hard in the grand scheme of what is hard in the world, but tricky for me and tricky for my family”. She also addressed the period when Ben reunited with Jennifer Lopez, 56, in 2021. This story has been sourced from a third party syndicated feed, agencies.
