As anticipation for BTS’s upcoming world tour continues to soar, fans planning to attend the group’s South Korean concerts are facing an unexpected challenge. Several hotels in Busan have reportedly begun cancelling previously confirmed reservations made by fans, only to relist the same rooms at significantly higher prices. The issue has sparked widespread frustration among ARMY, many of whom had booked accommodation months in advance.

Hotels in Busan cancel reservations

The problem surfaced shortly after the world tour dates were officially announced, with Busan set to host two major BTS concerts in June 2026. Fans from across South Korea and around the world rushed to secure hotel rooms near the venue, leading to an immediate surge in demand. However, many later discovered that their confirmed bookings had been abruptly cancelled by hotels, often without detailed explanations.

Several fans shared their experiences online, claiming that the same hotels later made the cancelled rooms available again at inflated rates. In some cases, prices were reportedly increased several times over the original booking amount. Others alleged they were contacted by hotel staff and encouraged to either cancel voluntarily or agree to pay a much higher fee to keep their reservation.

The situation has triggered anger on social media, with fans accusing some establishments of exploiting the massive demand generated by the BTS concerts. Many have called the practice unfair and unethical, arguing that confirmed reservations should be honoured regardless of demand spikes caused by major events.

In response to the growing backlash, Busan city authorities have stepped in to address the issue. Officials have announced enhanced monitoring of accommodation providers during the concert period and introduced a system that allows tourists to report unfair practices quickly. Authorities have also warned hotels that cancelling confirmed reservations without valid reasons could result in penalties and reputational damage.

ARMY expresses rage over the situation

Local officials emphasised that while dynamic pricing is common during large-scale events, forcibly cancelling bookings to resell rooms at higher rates crosses ethical and regulatory lines. The city is also exploring ways to direct visitors to alternative lodging options in neighbouring areas with good transport connectivity to ease pressure on central locations.

As fans continue making plans to attend BTS’s highly anticipated reunion tour, the hotel controversy has highlighted the broader challenges cities face when hosting major global events. For many ARMY members, the experience has been a reminder that while the excitement of live concerts is unmatched, logistical hurdles can quickly dampen the joy if not properly managed.
