As he turns a year older today, we take a look at Dhanush's upcoming projects. He was last seen in the big screen in the Sekhar Kammula directorial Kuberaa alongside Nagarjuna and Rashmika Mandanna. He received praise for his performance as a beggar who gets trapped in a businessman's money-making scheme. superstar Chiranjeevi also spoke heavily of his performance and said that he deserves the national award for the film.
Dhanush's upcoming projects
Tere Ishk Mein
Dhanush will be reuniting with filmmaker Aanand L Rai for the spiritual sequel of Raanjhanaa. The film also stars Kriti Sanon in the lead. This will mark Dhanush's third film with Aanand L Rai after Atrangi Re in 2021. The drama has been creating massive buzz ever since the release of the teaser that showed Dhanush setting a wall on fire, accompanied by the words, "From the world of Raanjhanaa." We could also hear in the background, "Pichli baar to Kundan tha, maan gaya, par iss bar Shankar ko kaise rokoge? (Last time it was Kundan, he accepted it, but how will you stop Shankar this time?)."
On the other hand, the initial glimpse of Kriti as Mukti had her walking through a chaotic, warlike scene. She was seen pouring petrol on herself and holding a lighter, prepared to set herself on fire.
Tere Ishk Mein is slated to be released across the globe in Hindi and Tamil on November 28 this year.
Idly Kadai
The Tamil film, which will feature Dhanush and Nithya Menon in the lead, has been directed by Dhanush himself. The makers have also confirmed that Shalini Pandey will be playing a pivotal role in the film as was being speculated in some sections of the media. Sources say Arun Vijay plays the antagonist in the film and that the face-off between Dhanush and Arun Vijay will be something to look forward to in the film.
The makers of the film had initially announced that the film would hit screens worldwide on April 10 this year. However, they chose to postpone the release to October 1.
The film, which is being jointly produced by Dhanush’s Wunderbar films along with Dawn Pictures, has cinematography by Kiran Koushik and music by G V Prakash.
Dr APJ Abdul Kaml biopic
The story of former Indian President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam is all set to come alive on the big screen. Playing the role of the talented scientist and beloved President will be National Award-winning actor Dhanush. The film was officially announced at the Cannes Film Festival 2025. The screen adaptation has been titled 'Kalam'. Born in Rameshwaran in Tamil Nadu, Dr Kalam was often called the ‘Missile Man of India’. He rose from modest beginnings to become a celebrated aerospace scientist, visionary, and eventually the People’s President.
The film will explore the man behind the missile programs and the presidency, the poet, the teacher, the dreamer whose every word carried both science and spirituality in equal measures. More than a political biography, the project is positioned as an insight into leadership and nation-building.
