The Chennai Family Welfare Court has officially finalised the divorce of music composer GV Prakash Kumar and singer Saindhavi. This officially brings an end to their twelve-year marriage. The court decision was announced on September 30, following months of court proceedings and a six-month reconciliation period. Although their marriage has ended, both music professionals will continue pursuing their musical careers independently.
GV Prakash Kumar and singer Saindhavi officially divorced
According to reports, after the couple filed for divorce, the court had allowed a six-month period for possible reconciliation. Consequently, during the hearings, Prakash had reportedly expressed willingness to stay in contact with Saindhavi for the sake of their child. However, both parties were firm on their decision to separate, which prompted the court to finalise the divorce.
The couple announced their separation via a post shared last year in May. The Soorarai Pottru music director wrote, “After much reflection, Saindhavi and I have decided to part ways after 11 years of marriage. For the sake of our mental peace and betterment while preserving our mutual respect for each other. We kindly ask the Media, friends and fans to understand and respect our privacy during this deeply personal transition. Acknowledging that we are growing apart, we believe this is the best decision for each other. Your understanding and support means a lot during this difficult time. Thank You."

At the event, they performed the romantic song Yaar Indha Saalai Oram from the 2013 film Thalaivaa, originally featuring Vijay and Amala Paul. G.V. Prakash played the piano and sang the male parts, while Saindhavi sang the female parts. Their heartfelt performance moved the audience and received applause at the venue.
