Malayalam actor and production controller Kannan Pattambi died on Sunday night at the age of 62. The veteran passed away at around 11:40 pm on January 4, 2026. He was reportedly undergoing treatment for a kidney-related ailment at a private hospital in Kozhikode before he succumbed. The news of his death was confirmed by his brother, Major Ravi, who is also a filmmaker and actor in Malayalam cinema

Major Ravi took to social media to confirm the sad news of his younger brother's demise. Taking to Facebook, he shared a photo of Kannan. In the caption, he confirmed his death and he wrote, “My dear brother, Kannan Pattambi, who was a film production controller, passed away at 11:41 PM last night. The funeral will be held at Pattambi's home in Njangattiri today at 4 PM. My younger brother, Kannan Pattambi, has left for his heavenly abode. Om Shanti.”



About Kannan Pattambi

Kannan Pattambi was an active part of the Malayalam film industry for several years. In his career, he worked both as a production controller and as an actor. He was the brother of Major Ravi, a former Indian Army officer who later chose to become a filmmaker. Ravi is best known for making films based on military and national security themes.

The two brothers collaborated on several projects, which were produced or directed by Ravi. One of the notable films wherein they joined hands was Mission 90 Days, which was based on Major Ravi’s personal experiences during the investigation into the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. Kannan Pattambi was reportedly was involved in the production of the film.

Meanwhile, Kannan Pattambi also worked on multiple films starring superstar Mohanlal. These include Pulimurugan, which went on to become the first Malayalam film to cross the Rs 100 crore mark at the box office. Additionally, Kannan’s filmography boasts of 23 Malayalam films, including 12th Man, Karam Yodha, Kurukshetra, Black and Vettam.

In addition to acting, Kannan also served as the production controller for the 2010 film Kandahar, which starred Mohanlal and Amitabh Bachchan.
