Telugu superstar Pawan Kalyan's mass actioner, Ustaad Bhagat Singh, hit cinemas on March 19, clashing with the sequel of Ranveer Singh’s highly awaited spy thriller Dhurandhar. Due to the enormous buzz surrounding Aditya Dhar’s directorial, the Telugu film appears to have taken a hit at the box office.

Ustaad Bhagat Singh's box office collection

As per trade tracker Sacnilk, Ustaad Bhagat Singh minted Rs 9.25 crore on day 2 of its release, which was also its first Friday at the box office. The platform further reported that the film was screened across 3,447 shows, recording an overall occupancy of 36.0 percent.

On Thursday, the film had opened with domestic collections of approximately Rs 34.75 crore net. This brings the film's total collection across India to Rs 44.00 crore (nett).

The numbers suggest that the film’s momentum has dipped, with its poor day 2 collections reflecting the impact of the clash with Dhurandhar 2.

In comparison, Dhurandhar 2 performed far better, recording an occupancy of about 35 percent in the region, despite having a limited release of just 700 shows. The film’s Telugu-dubbed version earned Rs 1.30 crore on day 2, while its nationwide collection for the day stood at an impressive Rs 80.72 crore. Dhurandhar's total collection in India now stands at Rs 226.27 crore.

Dhurandhar crosses Rs 100 crore on Day 1

As per trade trackers, the Aditya Dhar-directed film grossed over Rs 102.55 crore on the opening day, with the Hindi version contributing a lion's share of Rs 99.10 crore. Interestingly, the first instalment, Dhurandhar, which became the all-time highest grosser in Hindi, had opened with Rs 27 crore at the box office when it released in December 2025. This implies that Dhurandhar 2 made almost four times more than Dhurandhar on its opening day.

Its Kannada and Malayalam versions, which couldn't run paid previews due to technical issues and non-availability of content, collected Rs 0.8 crore and Rs 0.9 crore on the opening day, respectively. The Tamil version of the film earned Rs 1.16 crore from 958 shows in India, while Telugu collected Rs 2.12 crore.

Dhurandhar: The Revenge has managed to leave several recent blockbusters behind. It has surpassed the opening day numbers of films like Jawan (Rs 75 crore), Pathaan (Rs 57 crore), Stree 2 (Rs 54 crore) and Animal (Rs 64 crore) in the Hindi market, thus establishing itself as one of the biggest openers for Bollywood.
