If you are into comedy, you are as likely to know some of the judges in the months to come as you are the contestants. That's how good Comicstaan is.

From quizzing in the early 1990s to singing in the late 1990s to gameshows in the oughts, reality TV has come a long way, including that Indian original Roadies. None has been as egalitarian or as game-changing as Comicstaan. If you are into comedy, you are as likely to know some of the judges in the months to come as you are the contestants. That's how good this show is. Here's what we learned over eight weeks:

First-come-first-perish: One serious flaw was how, episode after episode, contestants who went up early ended up being scored poorly by both audience and judges. This also reflected how mentors kept going one up on each other as the show progressed.

Best Mentor: The leaderboard will tell you that Naveen Richards's finger and pinkie bucked recency bias to deservedly win Best Mentor. But, an honest review will tell you that Kaneez Surkha deserved it, too.

Best Episode: Bookmark episodes five and six for when you feel blue. Though it was structured as a weekly, towards the business end, I was waiting for the clock to strike 12. Advice to international OTT content providers: if you are doing a staggered release, don't stick to American Eastern Time or Pacific Time. Give us our fix at the stroke of (our) midnight.

Best mentor performance in Finale: Tanmay Bhat headlined it, Biswa Kalyan Rath was the penultimate act. All were funny, but I was still laughing from Kaneez's set.

Best set: So many high points. Nishant Suri, Rahul Dua, Saurav Mehta, and many others had great nights. But...

Aishwarya Mohanraj: Is best comic. I laughed so hard there were tears in my eyes. Without spoiling it for those who haven't watched it: if Rahul Dravid watches this, he will laugh. And, give it 11-on-10.

Prashasti: Is the real winner. If she keeps at it, she is going to wipe the Indian comedy floor with every contestant's (and host's, and judge's) face. LOL.
