It has been a long wait for Nimrat Kaur, who turned down several offers to step into the role of Shikha Sharma in The Test Case. Ekta Kapoor's coveted army drama, which premiered last April, only to go off air after a single episode, returned to the digital platform, Alt Balaji, on January 26. Understandably, Kaur describes the long and much-publicised hiatus as one that was "nerve-wracking". "I had given up several offers to play this role, but the long hiatus was unberable. People on social media abused me for making them wait. But, I was sailing in the same boat. It tested my patience. But I'm glad the show has released."

Although it was touted as one among the biggest series marking Kapoor's foray into the digital space, the show was apparently put on the backburner after the producer's speculated fallout with director Nagesh Kukunoor. While Kaur laments the filmmaker's departure, she credits newbie Vinay Waikul for stepping into his shoes and helming the show appropriately. "Vinay had a mammoth task at hand. He had to take charge from the second episode, and follow an established storyline. He didn't have the advantage of starting from scratch, which was tough. He was emotionally connected, astute, helpful and patient." That the director was also able to tactfully keep himself from tipping over into making the show preachy, was commendable, Kaur says.

The actor cherishes her association with this show, but says another digital outing is unlikely in the near future. "I've given my blood and sweat to this project. I may not dabble in the web space immediately."
