Sayantani Ghosh and Anugrah Tiwari

Actress Sayantani Ghosh, currently seen in 'Tera Yaar Hoon Main' is all set to get married to her longtime boyfriend Anugrah Tiwari on December 5. The wedding, will be held in her hometown Kolkata, and celebrations will continue in Anugrah's hometown Jaipur. The actress speaks to mid-day. com about her plans.

How are you pulling off the wedding preparations in between the shoot of your daily soap?

It’s pretty crazy, the wedding was to happen last year but the pandemic changed plans. Then my brother’s wedding happened in June so we pushed our wedding. We were thinking of getting married next year but then I felt there isn’t much difference between December and January. With the pandemic we really don’t know what will happen next year. So we didn’t want to push it any further and decided to get married. That’s how we arrived on the date, December 5th. With the daily soap its crazy when you are the lead. It’s an ongoing pressure and when I’ll have to leave the pressure will keep mounting but my producers were happy for me. Everybody has to work around it as much as we can manage. Yesterday I had an off but I spent the whole day shopping. My mother is doing a lot of shopping in Kolkata. Anugrah's family is doing a lot of it in Jaipur, so we are all doing the best we can.

Did you always dream of getting married in your hometown Kolkata?

I always wanted to get married in my hometown, although my work family is in Mumbai. With my brother's wedding it was just 25 people due to the pandemic, the extended family was left out. So everybody wanted to attend my wedding and dad suggested we do it in Kolkata. Ofcourse I’ll have a celebration for my friends in Mumbai. When I was a child, I had different dreams being influenced by Bollywood though in Bengali culture we don’t have sangeet and mehendi but everybody has a filmi effect. When you had been a bride onscreen zillion times, that is taken care of. Now I wanted it to be more heartfelt and intimate. After eight years of being together I wanted to celebrate the essence of being together with my loved ones.

Tell us about your trousseau?

I’ve always been a sari lover. My nani had given me a red sari that I will wear it on one of my functions. I had an imagery of being a bride in  an ivory or red sari, which is a typical Bengali combination, with bindi and sindoor. Nothing too elaborate. I want to be simple, comfortable and classy.

Where are you'll heading for the honeymoon?

If it had only been Kolkata we would have managed a short trip but with two venues I have to get back to shoot immediately. The honeymoon will happen in 2022 and we are yet to plan it.
