Amar Upadyay, currently seen in Molkki on Colors admits that he was clueless about the concept when the show was offered to him. Some research and learning to speak in a Haryanvi accent were part of his prep.

It's been a long relationship with Balaji and Ekta Kapoor…

Yes, after Kyunki…we hadn’t been in touch because we just happened to not meet often, but when I got offered Molkki, we were back to how we were, the same relationship. She asked me if I wanted my character to speak Hindi or Haryanvi and I chose to learn Haryanvi even though it would be tough to pull off on a daily basis. When I was offered the show I did not even know what Molkki means and they explained it was buying a bride. I did some research and found the concept interesting. Now the show is doing well and I’m grateful for all the love being showered on us.

What do you enjoy when you are not shooting?

I love taking off for long drives with my wife, we step out of the city when we get a chance. Enjoying a good meal at Fariyas or staying at my friend's bungalow is what we normally do. I and also enjoy reading fiction. Currently, I’m reading The Testament by John Grisham. This is a book about a billionaire who commits suicide at an old age and doesn’t leave a penny to his three wives or children. He leaves 11 billion dollars to an unknown child. It’s a very different and interesting book.
