Taking to social media, Ankita expressed her admiration and love for her former co-star, whom she considers a mother figure. Crediting her humility, honesty and commitment to her craft, the Pavitra Rishta star wrote, “Aai you are a rockstar and so inspiring in every way .. so much to learn from you.. how you till today so passionate so dedicated and so humble towards your art .. hats off to you.. love you aai for your straightforwardness yet so simple in every way ushanatakarni.” For the uninitiated, Usha Nadkarni essayed the role of Ankita’s mother-in-law in Pavitra Rishta. Appearing on Ankita Lokhande's vlog, the actress had revealed her fears of aging and all the loneliness attached to it. She had also opened up about the personal loss of her brother who passed away in 2024 on June 30. Reflecting on the bond they shared, she added, "If he had understood that I was going through something, he would have come running to me. Now, whom should I tell?" Akshay Kumar on new show Wheel of Fortune: 'Need more than luck for big bucks'

If Akshay Kumar brought adrenaline rush and daredevilry to the small screen as the host of Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi, he is bringing games of a different kind this time. The superstar began hosting the Indian edition of Wheel of Fortune, which premièred on January 27 on Sony Entertainment Television and SonyLIV. What made him give his nod to a show about word puzzles and prizes? Perhaps its legacy, considering the original American show has been on air since 1975? Nope, the actor pegs it down to its novelty.   “I’ve always believed in saying yes to something that feels new,” shares Kumar. “The format instantly intrigued me. What I enjoy about the game is that it keeps you guessing till the very end. At any moment, fortunes can change — you can move from a small amount to a jackpot, or lose it all if you’re not fully present,” he elaborates. Riteish Deshmukh Each game has three contestants and four rounds, where contestants have to complete the puzzles and spin the wheel to win money. According to Kumar, the show reflects the qualities one needs in life. “The wheel doesn’t just test your luck; it tests your awareness, thinking, and presence of mind. The idea that one wrong moment can wipe out everything you have won so far makes it real. It reflects life — fortune comes to everyone, but only those who stay alert can hold on to it. The show already has a strong global appeal, and bringing its Indian edition feels exciting.” The host opened the show with actors Riteish and Genelia Deshmukh. Interestingly, during the episode, it was revealed that Kumar refers to Riteish — his frequent co-star — as Pinky Kapoor. Ask him the backstory, and he laughingly says, “Riteish and I go back a long way, years of working together. When we were talking about how big the prize money can get, Riteish joked, ‘If you give me that kind of money, I’ll even change my name’. That’s when I started calling him Pinky Kapoor, and it just stuck.”

As anticipation builds for the launch of the new reality show The 50, a major spoiler has already begun making waves online. Reports suggest that Lovekesh Kataria may become the first contestant to be evicted, possibly on Day 1 itself, even before viewers get a chance to see the show unfold on television. Adapted from a popular international format, the show promises intense mind games, alliances and unexpected eliminations, making it one of the most talked about upcoming reality series. Did Lovekesh Kataria get evicted? According to inside sources, the first day of the show involved a challenging Arena task, designed to immediately test the contestants’ physical and mental agility. It is during this task that Lovekesh Kataria, known for his strong social media following and previous reality show experience, reportedly found himself on the losing side. Sneha Wagh

Sneha Wagh: 'TV is female-oriented medium, but it’s highly stereotypical'

Actor Sneha Wagh opened up about her role in Mahadev and Sons, her approach to choosing characters, and the changing realities of television in an exclusive conversation with mid-day. Speaking candidly, Sneha described her character as layered, emotionally driven, and deeply devoted, making it one of the most interesting roles she has played. Sneha Wagh gets candid about her character Talking about her character, Sneha said, “See, this is the fun. You know, suddenly this is a show where she is strong, she is not weak.” She explained that her character stood up for love and went against her family, believing they would eventually understand. “She stood up for her love… But I think somewhere she thought that my family loves me so much that they will accept it. It didn’t happen. That was the only reason,” she shared. While her character is strong, Sneha pointed out that emotionally she is gentle and submissive in love. “She is strong. But here, more than being strong, she is very docile. She is docile in love. She is very kind,” she said, adding that the character believes everything will eventually fall into place. What attracted Sneha the most was her devotion. “She is so devoted in love that she doesn’t think beyond it. For her, Mahadev is the start and Mahadev is the end,” she said, explaining that even family, children, and circumstances do not change that belief. “If Mahadev is saying this, it is right. If Mahadev is saying it, it’s wrong,” she added. Talking about her choices as an actor, Sneha said she never tries to compare characters with reality. “No, I never think about reality. When you are an actor, you should never think about reality,” she said, stressing that uniqueness makes characters memorable. Recalling her previous roles, she mentioned how playing intense, obsessive love stories excites her creatively. “I really like such characters. You do such things that you don’t get to do in normal life,” she said, calling them emotionally challenging yet fulfilling. Sneha Wagh addresses stereotypes in TV Sneha also spoke about how difficult it can be to separate personal emotions from performance. Recalling Veera, she said, “When I had to hate the little girl, it was very difficult for me… reality comes in your eyes, so it is not convincing.” Addressing stereotypes in television, Sneha acknowledged that OTT platforms have changed the game. “Television is a female-oriented medium, but it’s highly stereotypical,” she said, adding, “OTT has changed that thing… now you are like you are, and I am very thankful for it.” On what she strives for as an artist, Sneha concluded, “Audiences should enjoy watching them. If you are crying, they should cry with you. If you are laughing, they should laugh with you.” Talking about shows shutting down quickly, she said, “It’s risky for everyone… but that is the destiny of the show. Sometimes the shows are bad, that’s why they get shut. Sometimes the shows are good,” adding that every project comes with its own fate.
