Udit Narayan shares interesting anecdote about the two 'Gadar' films

Veteran playback singer-songwriter Udit Narayan, shared an interesting anecdote about 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha' and ‘Gadar 2’ on the latest episode of the singing reality show ‘Superstar Singer 3’. The show honours the veteran singer through its special episode titled ‘Udit Narayan’s Masterclass’. During the course of the episode, the young talents pay a heartfelt tribute by singing Udit Narayan’s timeless classics that are loved even today. The 13-year-old singer Aryan from Gurdaspur, Punjab, leaves the audience spellbound with his rendition of ‘Udja Kale Kawan’ from the Sunny Deol-starrer 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha'. While praising Aryan, Udit Narayan shared memories of the song, saying: “I am speechless and have no words to praise your performance. It was incredible. Aryan, you even sang in a higher range compared to what I did when I was performing this song. I still remember that 2001 was the year when 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha' and 'Lagaan' were released on the same day, on 15th June, and both created history. They became musical blockbusters.” He added that who knew that after 22 years, 'Gadar 2' would be made and Uttam Singh's songs would be recreated by Mithoon. It’s a big challenge to recreate a hit. The singer shared: “Anil Sharma, the director of both films, called me and Mithoon Ji and when we met, Mithoon said, 'Udit Ji, when your film was released, I was in college, and I was your fan. But I want to tell you that when I started working on this film, I received so many requests through email – they said, ‘If you’re making Gadar again, you must take Udit Narayan’s voice again’. Hearing this I felt good.” Super Judge Neha Kakkar also complimented Aryan, saying: “Aryan, this was your best performance, superb! It was so full of soul, it had so much power, and it was so full of emotions. I feel this show has been a good learning ground for you and all of you are going to go back with so much musical knowledge. And we all can see your growth already, God bless you. Beautiful.” ‘Superstar Singer 3’ airs Saturday and Sunday on Sony Entertainment Television. This story has been sourced from a third party syndicated feed, agencies. Ankita Lokhande and Sushant Singh Rajput

15 years of 'Pavitra Rishta': Ankita Lokhande misses Sushant Singh Rajput

Ankita Lokhande, known for her iconic portrayal of Archana in the beloved TV show 'Pavitra Rishta,' took to Instagram to commemorate the series' 15-year journey alongside her own in the entertainment industry. The show, which marked her acting debut, not only catapulted her to fame but also established a deep connection with audiences nationwide. In a heartfelt post, Ankita reminisced about her transformation into Archana and the enduring love she continues to receive for the role. In her first post, marking 15 incredible years of herself as an actor with Pavitra Rishta, she thanked the makers for entrusting her with the TV show that made her a household name. Furthermore, Ankita took a poignant moment to remember her co-star, the late Sushant Singh Rajput, who played the role of Manav, her on-screen love interest. She credited Sushant for mentoring her through her acting journey, acknowledging his pivotal role in shaping her skills and the show's groundbreaking storytelling. In another post dedicated to Sushant Singh Rajput, Ankita said she misses him and called their on-screen pair 'iconic'. She reflected on the impact of their characters Manav and Archana and how they complete each other.  Sharing a series of pictures of herself and Sushant from the show, Ankita wrote, "It’s not just 15 years of Archana, it’s also 15 years of Archana and Manav, a couple who personified love, marriage, understanding and companionship. They’re perfect. They’re what we call “Goals”. They taught me what perfect marriage means. I bet there’s no on-screen couple as real, sweet and iconic as Archana and Manav, and most of its credit goes to the audience who showered so much love on us. And of course, we could create that magic because of Ekta ma’am’s trust in us. Manav completed Archana. He was, is and always will be remembered whenever Archana will be mentioned because their Pavitra Rishta was as pure as my pavitra rishta with you all! Without his guidance, I wouldn’t have become what I am today. Without Manav, there’s no Archana. As much as it’s my celebration, it’s his too. We are proud of what you’ve achieved and the acting prowess you’ve shown. And remember, aasmaan me jab tak sitaare rahenge, hum ek doosre ke sahaare rahenge. Nazdeekiyaan ya ho dooriyaan, bas pyaar hi rahega darmiyaan…. Pavitra Rishta then now and forever." "We miss you #Sushant," concluded Ankita.            View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Ankita Lokhande Jain (@lokhandeankita) Sushant Singh Rajput, who rose to fame with his portrayal of Manav in 'Pavitra Rishta,' ventured into Bollywood with notable films like 'Kai Po Che!' and 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story.' Telly Tattle: Gaming break, anyone?

Arjun Bijlani and Nikki Sharma, who play Shiv and Shakti respectively in the television show, Pyaar Ka Pehla Adhyaya ShivShakti, are making the most of their breaks in between shots. The two play badminton as a stress-buster. Sometimes, their co-actors and other crew members also join in when they are free. Arjun, who discussed the idea with his leading lady before they brought their racquets to the location, says, “Nikki gave me stiff competition, but thanks to all the practice I regularly get with my son, I was all set to beat her. Now, badminton is our official break-time ritual. It’s a great addition to our workout routine.” Nikki adds, “Arjun is really good at the game, but I am pretty competitive. I believe these little things we get to do on the set with our co-stars keep our bonds stronger and motivate us to keep going.”

A still from Pavitra Rishta

15 years of 'Pavitra Rishta': Ankita says, 'Sushant taught me how to act'

‘Pavitra Rishta' aired from June 2009 to October 2014. It is an adaptation of the Tamil television series Thirumathi Selvam. Along with Ankita Lokhande, who played the memorable Archana, the show starred late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who played the endearing Manav. In late 2018, and later in 2020 after the death of Sushant, the series was rebroadcast. A web series titled 'Pavitra Rishta - It's Never Too Late' aired in September 2021 starring Ankita reprising her role as Archana and Shaheer Sheikh as Manav. Ankita took to Instagram, sharing a clip of her journey from ‘Pavitra Rishta’ to date, and penned a comprehensive post expressing her gratitude towards fans and remembering Sushant.  She wrote, “15 years ago, I started my journey as Archana in Pavitra Rishta. Little did I know that even after years, I will continue to get so much love for my role, which has even become my identity. I sometimes feel I was destined to be Archana. I had her in me, and I continue to have her in me. She has taught me a lot about life. I am forever indebted to @ektarkapoor @ek_ek_ekoo ma’am and @balajitelefilmslimited for giving me a role of a lifetime right in the beginning of my career. Main rahoon ya na rahoon, the love I have received, Archana and Pavitra Rishta has received from each one of you will keep me alive forever in your hearts, and I don’t think there’s anything more precious than that.”           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Ankita Lokhande Jain (@lokhandeankita) “But my journey wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t have Sushant’s support. I didn’t even know how to act when I started Pavitra Rishta. He taught me, and I will always be thankful for him. The show started a new kind of storytelling. Hindi television par Marathi culture ko dikhaya. Isse pehle kabhi koi aisa show aaya nahi tha. People could resonate with the show because of the innocence the show and the people involved in it had. And last but not the least, I would like to thank the television industry for giving me so much love. My first brush with fandom and stardom happened because of a television show, and I am always going to be thankful for that,” she added.  Ankita and Sushant had dated each other for nearly six years before parting ways in 2016. Sushant breathed his last on June 14, 2020. He was found dead in his Mumbai apartment. Ankita married Vicky Jain in 2021.  (With inputs from Agencies)

Krishna Shroff

Krishna Shroff: ‘Daddy’s fame or money can’t give this to you’

She could have taken the usual road traversed by star kids—grow up and pursue acting. But Krishna Shroff was clear that it was not her calling. She considers herself the blacksheep of the family, who has defied the expectations people had from her as she was Jackie Shroff’s daughter and Tiger Shroff’s sister. But she would rather be her authentic self than give in to people’s expectations. After finding her purpose by opening her own mixed martial art studio, she is now set to make her television debut with Khatron Ke Khiladi 14 (KKK 14). In conversation with mid-day, Krishna talks about her journey from an overweight and under-confident teenager to finding her own voice, and her family’s reaction to her decision of joining the show. Edited excerpts from the interview. Is this the first time that Khatron Ke Khiladi was offered to you?No, this is the second time the makers came to me. Two years ago, when they first approached me, I wasn’t very confident or secure enough in myself to feel that I could put myself out there. Fast forward to [today], I’m in a different place in terms of how I feel about myself and from within. I’m ready to let the world know who I am. How did you build your confidence in the two years? It has to do with age and experiences. I’ve come into my own now. I’m secure with the businesses that I run. [KKK 14] is not something that I need; it’s something I want, and that’s what makes me comfortable going through with it. I’m looking forward to seeing how much more I can push myself, not just physically, but also mentally because it’s a game that [tests your] mental strength. Many contestants in the past have overcome many things with the power of the mind. A Shroff, an entrepreneur, fitness enthusiast, actor—which role do you identify with most?An entrepreneur. I’m blessed to wake up and do what I love every single day. Many don’t have that liberty or that pleasure. I love being my own boss and doing things on my own terms. I’m blessed with the platform I have because of my family and the name that they have in the industry. It’s given me the security to do what I feel passionate about. I’m happy with what I’ve been able to do away from the family legacy that I come from. [I am now trying to] create my own identity in the fitness world. Was there ever any pressure to follow in your father and brother’s footsteps?People think I’m absolutely crazy for not taking the opportunity [to act]. But there’s a world beyond it. The pressure definitely hit me when I was a teenager. At that age, you’re influenced easily by outside noise and opinions. I felt like that this is something I have to do because people are expecting me to do it. That’s when I got my bachelor’s degree in film production. I came back to India, assisted on a few of my brother’s movies. That is exactly when I realised this is not what I want to do. From there, I was not going to waste any more time giving in to what people expect from me. I found fitness about seven years ago, and it was the most liberating and empowering feeling. Two hours in the gym feel like therapy. How did fitness help you?No matter what was going on in my life, I was focused. Seeing how far I was able to push myself week after week had a direct impact on my mind. It gave me a newfound sense of confidence I didn’t necessarily have growing up because I was an overweight kid, who was sometimes thrown into the limelight when I’d go out with my father. People are cruel. Reading criticism at such a young age was a lot. I was able to channelise that in a positive way through fitness. People need to be a little more mindful. While I was able to take it in a positive way, a lot of people won’t and [probably] can’t. What were the highs and lows of that journey? There were many days where I didn’t feel like going to the gym or sticking to that diet. But I am so proud of [myself] for sticking with it because no amount of daddy’s fame or money can give this to you. It’s your hard work and it’s you versus you every single day. I was able to overcome that. To participate in a show like KKK 14, where do you think your strengths lie?I love challenges. I’ve purposely put myself in uncomfortable positions with my body to see how far I can push my mind to overcome certain things. I believe I’ll be ready for what’s thrown my way. I tend to thrive under pressure and my competitive nature comes out then. What was your family’s reaction? My brother got a good laugh out of it. He was like, ‘I can’t believe you’re doing this’. My parents were initially a little hesitant. They asked me if I surely wanted to do it, and I said yes. It wasn’t long until they were 100 per cent on board. I’ve always been the black sheep of the family. I’ve steered away from what everyone expected me to do.

Excited about my debut on TV with 'Khatron Ke Khiladi', says Krishna Shroff

Krishna Shroff, the daughter of veteran actor Jackie Shroff, says she is excited to debut on Indian television with reality show "Khatron Ke Khiladi", which gives her a chance to be authentic in front of the camera. Krishna said the idea of "just being herself" is more fascinating than acting in movies. She is confident viewers will get to know more about her through the Rohit Shetty-hosted show. "There've been many questions around whether I want to do movies (or not). It is always like, 'Why isn't she doing films? Is she going to do it?'. I was very clear from early on in life that I'm comfortable just being me, I'm comfortable in the reality space," Krishna told PTI in an interview "It is something that I feel very sure about because I get to be me. I'm excited to connect with a wide audience through this show because the platform is immense. Right now, I'm on Instagram, there's only so much that you can show on that platform," Krishna added. She said adventure-based reality show, "Khatron Ke Khiladi" resonated with her personality and hence she chose to do it. I don't think there's anything better than 'Khatron Ke Khiladi' that could fit my brand specifically." Krishan said her father Jackie Shroff and actor brother Tiger Shroff are looking forward to her show appearance. "My brother had a great laugh. My parents were hesitant at first and were like, 'You are the youngest, (you're) going out for a long period of time'. They were concerned about safety, which is normal but that nervousness became excitement," she said. Krishna said she has no qualms being referred to as Jackie Shroff's daughter and Tiger Shroff's sister while striving to create her own identity. "I'm very proud to be known as my father's daughter or my brother's sister. They've a massive legacy and to be related to them is an honour. I'll never shy away from that," she said.
