It's hard not to imagine ingredients coming out of skull-shaped boxes or a growling chef banging bowls, when you hear the words Headbanger's Kitchen.

But the Demonstealer's version of a cookery show is nothing like that. It's bright. It's clean. It's where the award-winning Metal musician has been rustling up dishes for the past four years. This March onwards, fans of Demonstealer's music and cooking get a sneak peek into the kitchen through webisodes of the Headbanger's Kitchen.
The series is split into two sections: Demonic Cookery and the Band Interview. In the first half of the show, Demonstealer aka Sahil Makhija, vocalist/guitarist with the band Demonic Ressurection, demonstrates his cooking skills. In the latter half he invites Metal bands for a taste and an informal interview.
The first episode saw the Dubai-based Nerve Cell dig into Beef Burgers and Rustic Potatoes. The idea for the webcast came from Demonstealer's food blogs called Demonic Cookery on Facebook. He had blogged about 22 dishes since 2007 and the fan response was encouraging.u00a0"Some of the stuff I make is on the fly, while I look up some recipes online, and then do my own version of it," says Sahil, who once seriously considered donning a professional chef's hat.

The interview section of Headbanger's Kitchen is Sahil's way of increasing awareness about the Metal scene in India. "You'll often find interviews of Metal bands online, but not from the Indian perspective," Sahil points out. So, the next Headbanger's Kitchen will see popular Metal act Bhayanak Maut drop in for a quick bite.
Interestingly, Headbanger's Kitchen is breaking several boundaries. Parents of Metal fans have remarked that they are happy to see their kids watch a 'cookery show.' "The video depicts him as Dr Jekyll, while on stage he is Mr Hyde. We're challenging the notion that people who are into Heavy Metal can't cook food or have a life otherwise," says the man behind the camera, Srinivaas Sunderrajan from Enter Guerilla Production. After seeing Demonstealer's skills in the kitchen a lot of his fans have started experimenting too. "I think a lot more Metal heads are spending time in the kitchen these days," says Sahil, flashing an impish grin.
