11 am:
11.15 am: A composed Zayed, clad in white kurta-pyjama, ushers mourners inside. Feroz's son, Fardeen Khan, sits in a corner, visibly-shaken and grieving, while brother Sanjay Khan puts on a brave front, quietly issuing instructions all the while. Feroz's daughter Laila Khan, wearing black, sits in a corner and weeps. 12 pm: When the crowd at the gates gets restive, Zayed walks down the drive to pacify them.u00a0
1 pm: A second shock for the grieving family. Zarine Khan, a close cousin from Chandigarh who has been keeping vigil near the actor's body, suffers a severe asthma attack. She is carried into one of the bedrooms, a doctor is rushed in and she is put on oxygen. Fardeen and Zayed stay by her side.
11 am: A posse of security guards is ready at the gates of the Khan farmhouse on Tumkur Road. They check the name of every visitor with that of the master list provided by Feroz Khan's family as a steady stream of mourners queues up. Zayed Khan says it was his uncle's last wish that only close relatives be allowed into his manor.
2.30 pm: As Zarine recovers, Sanjay herds everyone out as it's getting late for the funeral. He, Zayed,u00a0 Fardeen and a number of close friends load the stretcher into an ambulance. A few accompany the body as the ambulance is escorted by two police jeeps.
2.45 pm: Sanjay, Zayed, Fardeen and other family members follow behind in their cars.
3.15 pm: The ambulance arrives at the burial ground on Hosur Road, near Elgin Mills and is greeted by a sea of mourners. Chaos prevails as curious onlookers elbow their way in for a closer look at the proceedings. Police try to force the crowd back.
3.20 pm: Fardeen accompanies the body into a special room for the last rites. Zayed and Sanjay stand guard outside. The ladies wait in a specially designated area and read the kalma. They pass on the kalma to other mourners and instruct them to read it 40 times.
4.30 pm: Fardeen reappears. The body is taken to the women's section for them to pay their last respects. The maulvi reads the prayers and the women break down.
4.45 pm: The same ritual is repeated in the men's section.
5.15 pm: Actor Hrithik Roshan arrives with wife Suzanne Khan and sister-in-law Farah. Suzanne hugs Laila, her cousin, and they break down. Celina Jaitley follows. Fans elbow their way in and the family is upset. Farah shouts at the gatecrashers and orders them to clear out.
5.30 pm: The legendary Feroz Khan is laid to rest amidst a flood of tears. The family, close friends and relatives continue praying and the crowd starts thinning.
