Shake a leg with the Reggae Raja, Apache Indian, as he gears up to launch his new album Home Run in the city
He needs no introduction. You say Chok There and you are taken back to the times when you wanted to rap like him. To give the city a taste of some of his old and new songs, Apache Indian is set to raise the tempo this Saturday with his performance.u00a0
The event marks the launch of his new album Home Run. "The new album involves collaborations with some of the best musicians from the music industry, including AR Rahman, Asha Bhosle and Miss Pooja, a popular singer. I am currently shooting the music video for the song Gabroo. The flavour of this album is a mix of Reggae, Punjabi, Hip-Hop and R'n'B. Older tracks such as Chok There will be performed with a different mix," says u00a0Apache.
He recently received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the UK Asian Music Awards. "I appreciate the award and feel that awards are important. But this is not it; I have many more things to do. For instance, I will be releasing a solo album titled Music is Freedom in April."u00a0Being a complete entertainer, Apache prefers live shows to studio recordings as it brings the song and dance together.u00a0
In an age where technology has all the answers, Apache doesn't mind trying out new techniques, but tries to keep the sound real. "It's best to keep a balance. I prefer the old feel though," he concludes.u00a0
