According to trade analysts, from the 2,500 prints distributed worldwide, the film raked in a cool Rs 200 crores in the opening week itself. The film opened to a lukewarm response in the North, but picked up from the third show onwards. In Bihar, shows of Ranbir-Priyanka-starrer Anjaana Anjaani, which opened well, were taken off screen after the first three shows, to accommodate Robot.

And now, trade pundits for the first time in many years, are seeing a clear trend. Filmmakers in Mumbai are putting their heads togetheru00a0 to come up with Rajini-style action flicks. Sanjay Leela Bhansali has signed rubberband body choreographer Prabhu Deva to direct a hardcore masala-dosa action film, after he watched what Prabhu did with Salman Khan in Wanted.

Bhansali and Khan are unfortunately in the midst of a cold war, which makes Bollywood's No. 1 action hero Akshay Kumar the prime contender for flips and somersaults.Action with special effects is the new
winning formula. Producer Sajid Nadiadwala who encountered unexpected competition for his much-hyped love story Anjaana Anjaani, is now planning an action film titled Kick with Salman Khan. Anees Bazmi, otherwise known for his comedies, has also signed on Khan for an action flick.

Producer-director Vipul Shah, who up until now has made rom-coms with his favourite hero Akshay Kumar, will now remake Telugu blockbuster Kakha Kakha with John Abraham in the lead. Shah says Abraham's action potential is yet to be tapped. "Action is the flavour of the season. While Akshay and Salman have done several notable action films, John will have a fresh approach to action, I feel."

Little wonder then that producer Madhu Mantena who gave Aamir Khan a run for his muscles in Ghajini, is making a period action film with Hrithik Roshan.
