In the post-Independent era, several non-violent, revolutionary movements such as the Dandi March and the Bardoli Satyagraha helped abolish discriminatory laws laid down by the British. While the former was led by Mahatma Gandhi, the latter was by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel to help the drought-stricken farmers of Bardoli, Gujarat; against the increase of land tax rates imposed on them by the British India government. This successful agitation, led by Vallabhbhai Patel, earned him the title, Sardar in 1928.

Now, the same revolution has come back from the past to inspire Mihir, your average carefree youth who is the protagonist of Jaimini Pathak’s new play, Postcards from Bardoli who takes a cue from the Bardoli Satyagraha and aims to solve the agrarian crisis in the English play set in the post-Liberalisation India.

Postcards from Bardoli, tries to send the message across to its audience that Swaraj or self rule is yet to be attained and one needs to learn from the mistakes committed in the past to save our future. The play stars Pathak and Amol Parashar.
