Shubhra Paul

Shubhra Paul, the woman behind gastronomicjournal, posts mouth-watering photos and reels that hit you where it hurts the most when you are hungry.

A casual browsing of her foodgram (Food Instagram) will send you to the nearest eatery or Zomato & Swiggy! She has visited and reviewed close to 2000 food joints across Maharashtra, Goa and Madhya Pradesh.

With a follower count of more than 71 thousand on her food, travel and lifestyle blog Shubhra Paul has become a daily name for many households. Her interactions with followers will leave many scratching their heads at the amount of love and admiration that her Instagram family shower her with.

Her goal was always to bring Nagpur’s food culture on the national map and in the process managed to follow her passion of photography, exploration and eating! Officially starting her Instagram page in 2018, Shubhra has a treasure trove of tantalizing images and videos of herself enjoying a variety of global cuisines.

Humble beginnings from a small town like Nagpur, gastronomicjournal has made a dent in the Mumbai scene covering street food like Sardar Pav Bhaji, Anand Dosa and Vada Pav Stall, Pappu Juice Wala, Noor Mohmaddi to popular fast-food joints like Leopold’s, Jimi’s Burgers, Joey’s Pizza, Gateway Taproom to luxury restaurants like Bayroute, Izumi, Kangan etc. She has been invited to promote restaurants all over Mumbai.

Shubhra Paul’s page gastronomicjournal has been featured on Times of India, MissMalini and Radio Mirchi among others. She has multiple viral posts reaching a cumulative audience of ten million plus and a few of her posts even popped up on FoodInsider, Unilad and Tastemade. She has even been summoned to judge cooking shows and give career counselling to young entrepreneurs on social media who wish to pursue influencing and blogging.

Renowned colleges like VNIT and IMT have also approached Shubhra for guest lectures and judging national competitions. Shubhra organised a charity event called ‘The Initiative’ where she and some of her dedicated followers volunteered to prepare meals for the needy using materials donated by her global audience.

When Covid-19 hit and lockdowns were announced instead of getting demotivated she doubled down and entertained her followers with quirky and original home recipes to encourage people to cook at home and experiment with their skills. She even has cool hacks that can help somebody with a quick fix healthy meal.

Gastronomicjournal has pioneered and hosted 10 well received food walks (where hundreds of people come together and explore a particular area) along with fellow food bloggers. She plans to do more food walks in Mumbai as soon as it’s safe to do so and we can’t wait to join her food journey.

“If you love to do something, it’s all about consistency, personal interaction, persistence, experimentation and a ‘go for it’ attitude” says Shubhra.

Shubhra Paul Banker through her Instagram page @gastronomicjournal and YouTube channel offers hotels and restaurants innovative and effective services like Meet and Greet, Sip and Talk, and a feature in her Food Walk or travel blog. She has also helped curate the menus in restaurants ranging from Indian to Japanese and desserts and even has a dish named after her in a popular restaurant in Nagpur!
