Accio! Potter around the UK

Mere muggles like us might not be able to conjure a decent lumos. But all's not lost for the Harry Potter fan. Criss-cross the UK countryside and witness how capable you are of soaking in some magic, through a Harry Potter special tour

So what if you didn't get your letter of acceptance to the Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizardry? Take heart. We suggest you get your share of magic by chalking out a DIY Harry Potter Trail around the UK. To get to the place where our lightning-scarred hero encountered his first Avada Kedavra Spell, whoosh to the Gothic, 900 year-old Gloucester Cathedral on your personal broomstick.

Potter fans will recognise the cloisters and walkways of the Gothic,
900-year old Gloucester Cathedral that was filmed as part of the
Hogwarts school

Situated in the north of the Gloucester city, a true blue Potter fan will recognise the historic cloisters and the labyrinth walkways in which the cameras were rolling not so long ago to film the Hogwarts School scenes.

A few school scenes were also shot at Oxford University, especially in the Bodleian Library that doubles up as the Hogwarts Library in which you might bump into Harry hiding from Madam Pince's eyes under his Invisibility Cloak. The Great Hall at Christ Church (trivia: also the college to have inspired Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland) doubles up as Hogwart's Great Hall. Don't forget to walk around the cloisters and quadrangles, and look up the painted 'wizards' on the wallsu00a0-- they might just move.

If you had plans of hopping on to the Hogwarts Express from Platform 9 , hop over to King's Cross Station. Between Platforms 9 and 10, you will spot a trolley disappearingu00a0 halfway through the wall. Don't forget to hold tight as you whoosh through it. Just in case the gap has been filled and the train has departed, don't forget to hold on to the cart and say 'Cheese!' any way.

To board the Hogwarts Express, you will have to travel all the way to Glenfinnan, a village in Scotland. The muggle Jacobite Steam Train that traverses through the gorgeous highlands is where you can hope to feast on Chocolate Frogs and Pumpkin Pasties. We suggest you know your Patronus Charm well, though, lest those dementors swoop down on the train again.

Muggles like ourselves can also visit Gringott's Bank (Australia House on the Strand), Little Whinging Zoo (the Reptile House of London Zoo), Diagon Alley (Leadenhall Market) and Godric's Hollow (the gorgeous, medieval village of Lacock in Wiltshire).
