It's a pity that no one has sung an ode to South Africa's Route 62, though it meanders between Cape Town and Oudtshoorn, the Langkloof and Port Elizabeth with awe-inspiring views at each twist and turn.
Drive down a section of this 850-kilometre Wine Route and you will be rewarded with a scenery that is packaged with magnificent landscapes, towering cliffs, crystal clear streams, ever-changing colours of majestic mountains, rivers, vineyards and orchards.
Route 62 is the longest wine route in the world. It leads you through the wine-growing areas of Wellington, Tulbagh, Worcester, Robertson and the Klein Karoo.

These easily accessible towns, on both the sides of the highway, offer ample opportunities for exploration.
Apart from stomping over grapes at the vineyards, you can also drop by at game reserves, go on a cultural tour and check out tribal art and local museums. For the more adventurous travellers there are also activities like hiking, ostrich riding, fishing, canoeing and caving, en route.
