We are aware that comfort is of topmost priority when you travel but blindly copying international styles and trends sometimes borders on that of the absurd. 30-somethings attempting to revive her childhood in such attire doesn't not work. Ask the experts.

Shilpa Shetty.

We spotted several Indian celebrities strolling across our airports this year, wearing velvet monochrome tracksuits (mostly from Juicy Couture) in various colours, from candy pink to bright orange. International celebrities including Eva Longoria, Kim Kardashian, Miley Cyrus, Paris Hilton and Britney Spears have been sporting these suits since the early 2000s. But stars here have been late to catch up o the trend.

It looks more like a me-too trend rather than some serious fashion sense when it comes to hitting these runways. Mugdha Godse was seen in s shocking pink suit, Maanyata Dutt in an unflattering dark blue but the queen of the Indian lot would be Shilpa Shetty who has been spotted in different shades of blue, blinding red and plane wrecking orange.

We approached designers Nachiket Barve and Sanchita Ajjampur to do a style check on this trend.

Travel dressing is one section where style can't always take over comfort. It has to be a mix of both. The fabrics need to be breathable, one's that do not crush and don't attract lint. Also wearing deeper colours is a good option to avoid stains and linen is a straight no. Instead of velvet one can wear knit tracks in matt black or stretchable jeans paired with a silk and viscose mix top and an open cardigan or an open cascade jacket.

Tailored shirts also look crisp. It's about time for celebrities to stop wearing UGG boots.

While travelling in the day - jacket, nice pants, comfortable but in-trend shoes such as wedge sneakers with in-built heel from Logan LA. This will take you nicely into the early evening if you decide to stop and have a bite on the way back to your hotel, as you won't feel underdressed or scruffy. A beautiful shawl (pashminas are a good option) or big scarf is the most versatile item you can take. Carry it on your lap in transit, around your shoulders when the air-conditioning is running riot and throw around your neck; held together with a fabulous brooch when stepping out for the evening in your adopted town. A closet staple, tank tops help create several outfits in no time. They're perfect for that layered look that is so essential for travel. Velvet tracks are great to wear and leather jackets will always chic things up.
