In artist Nandita Kumar’s latest exhibition, Let tHe bRAinFly, the central character is a fly aka brainfly, which mutates, morphs and evolves to adapt to the environment. Along the process, it charts a surreal journey of the fly within the brain and the neuron-scape.

A painting by Nandita Kumar

Visit the gallery, and you will be enthralled with spot collage, hand-drawn artworks and paint on film presented as a visual storyboard. Images of the brain and other organs relay the story of what happens when the brain unplugs its cultural programming and purely indulges in the senses. It leads to an un-learning of prejudices, and an acceptance of love.

The more the fly travels, the more it becomes freed from ego and biological gender restraints. Kumar was born in Mauritius and shuttles between Mumbai and Auckland. She has participated in shows in Australia and New York.
