Anshuka Parwani's journey in Yoga began as a kid practising under the supervision of her mother who has been a teacher for over 15 years. In 2008 a near-fatal bike accident left Anshuka undergoing multiple trauma with multiple fractures to the legs, a broken head and back injury. This is when along with physiotherapy her therapy through Yoga began. Within weeks of practice and a strong mind, Anshuka was walking again. This is when Anshuka decided to dig deeper and understand the meaning of ,Yog & founded her company ,Anshuka Yoga.'

When mid-day.com asked Anshuka Parwani about what yogalates, and this is what she said, 'Yogalates is a blend of east and west because it effectively merges the ancient practice of Yoga from the east with the core stabilizing, posture enhancing dynamics of Pilates from the west. The origins of Yoga date back to around 3000BC India with the emphasis on creating a union with oneself'

Anshuka Parwani added, 'Yoga can enhance strength, stamina, flexibility, balance and mental clarity. Through developing a conscious awareness of the body, mind, breath and life force (prana) it has the ability to be deeply relaxing and health enhancing'

In an attempt to understand why she chose to mix Yoga and Pilates, Anshuka Parwani said, 'As opposed to building a body that is simply muscular like in other workout regimens, the use of both yoga and Pilates at the same time will be conducive to the development of a body which is strong as well as lean, graceful, and efficient'

'Practicing both yoga along with Pilates can also lead to a reduction in stress. Because of this feature, the practice of the two techniques are also employed as systems of physical rehabilitation. Finally, a benefit of both yoga and Pilates is the increased attainment of harmony and high levels of spiritual, mental and physical fitness,' Anshuka Parwani added.

While looking at people practicing yoga and pilates out together, one does wonder how the two compliment each other. To this Anshuka Parwani said, 'Yoga and Pilates' techniques make them ideal to complement each other in a workout combo. For example, you can take the stretching emphasis from yoga and retain it for Pilates exercises'

'You can improve your yoga poses after you build up your abdominal muscles from Pilates work. The breathing techniques that are so important and prevalent in both exercise philosophies can even be integrated into your everyday life and routines, which means having a stronger body and a stress-free mind,' Anshuka added.

Anshuka Parwani works with extremely busy professionals who often don't have the time to get a workout in. We asked her what advice would she give them to help them stick to their workout schedule. To this, she said, 'Work out efficiently, cater to your own likes and dislikes, use competitions as motivation, make a schedule and commit to it, track your activity levels, choose something over nothing'.
