After eight chain snatching incidents on Tuesday, Pune witnessed a spate of robberies on Wednesday
Police have launched an operation targeting burglars in the city following a surge in break-ins and chain snatchings in the last two days. On Tuesday, chain snatching offences wereu00a0reported from Swargate, Sahakarnagar, Chinchwad, Yerawada, Vishrantwadi, Pimpri and Nigdi.
The following day, incidences of house break-ins were reported from Khadak, Koregaon Park, Yerawada and Airport police station jurisdictions wherein gold ornaments and cash, collectively worth Rs 10 lakh, were reported stolen in all four incidents.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Shahaji Solunke said the police have launched a special drive to nab the suspects, and assured that their efforts will bear results soon.
Wednesday blues
In the first incident, unidentified persons broke into a flat owned by Anil Prabhakar Kavitkar (56), in Guruwar Peth, and decamped with gold ornaments and cash estimated to be worth Rs 1.15 lakh.
According to the Khadak police, the thieves entered the house by breaking the lock, and broke open the cupboards where the valuables were kept. Kavitkar was not at his residence at the time of the incident.
In the second incident, Pankaj Bhatu Jadhav, a resident of Agrasen Society, lodged a complaint with Koregaon Park police station stating that thieves gained entry to his locked residence and fled away with valuables worth approximately Rs 2. 81 lakh.
They used a metal rod to rip apart the door’s lock before entering the house, the police said. The incident took place when the family was out. Using a similar modus operandi, unidentified people targeted the Ramwadi residence of Sanjay Hikmat Nikam (44), a resident of Anandyog Society, and made away with cash and gold valuables estimated to be worth Rs 3.12 lakh.
The incident again took place when Nikam was not at home.In the fourth case, the Airport police registered a case against unidentified intruders for carrying out a theft at Oakwood Society in Viman Nagar.
The burglars gained entry to the house by breaking open the door locks, and decamping with cash valuables worth Rs 2.4 lakh after cracking open the cupboard. u00a0
