A Sub-Inspector of the Delhi Police was today booked for allegedly raping a 19-year-old girl in Saket area of South Delhi, police said today.
A case of rape was registered against SI Varun Kumar following a court order, police said. It was immediately unclear as to when the offence took place although the victim had reportedly been struggling since 2011 to get an FIR registered against Kumar.
The complaint was finally registered after a court order. "Kumar was earlier posted at Ambedkar Nagar police station. He is currently absconding. Efforts are on to nab him," a police officer said.
