The deceased has been identified as Tejas Palke, a resident of Dhankawadi. The incident took place on Saturday around 8.30 pm at Vishal Maharashtra Society Chowk in Padmavati.
“On Saturday, when Palke was returning home, he was intercepted by a group of five youths who debated with him. Soon, the debate became physical with the youths attacking him with sharp weapons and then ran away by leaving him in a pool of blood,” said Senior Inspector Kamalakar Takwale.
Some residents of the area alerted the police and Palke was taken to a private hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Sunil Palke (45), victim’s father, has lodged a complaint against Chetan Misal (18) of Taljai slums, Padmavati, and four others. The cops have booked and detained four minors under Section 302 (murder) and are in search of the main accused Misal.
