An offence was registered against three persons, including two women, for allegedly forging a birth certificate and presenting it to the Bhiwandi Nizampur Municipal Corporation (BNMC) in Maharashtra, police said on Thursday.
Based on a complaint, the police registered a case against Yasmin Mohammad Hussain Ansari and her brother-in-law Firoz Nizam Ansari and sister Saba Nasrin Ansari, an official said.
According to the police, Yasmin's former husband Siraz alleged that after their divorce, the responsibility of taking care of their seven-year-old son fell on him, but the woman allegedly placed the child in her sister's care.
The trio allegedly forged documents and prepared a fake birth certificate for the child and submitted it to the BNMC, the official said, adding that no arrest has been made in this regard.
