PSI Prakash More's wife comes to terms with life after husband's death in the terror attacks

"I feel proud to be called a martyr's widow, but obviously my husband's death is also a big blow to our family," said a moist-eyed Madhavi (46), wife of slain sub-inspector Prakash More. Madhavi holds her head high as she remembers her husband's heroics on 26/11.

L T Marg police station's More, Additional CP Sadanand Date and constable Vijay Khandekar were sent to Cama and Albless Hospital, where terorrists Ajmal Qasab and Abu Ismail killed four people.

More and Khandekar lost their lives after a 40-minute battle with the terrorists, while Date was badly injured.

Last words

"Before he was taken to the hospital, he spoke to Pratik (19), our elder son, about his studies. That was the last time he spoke to us," recalled Madhavi.

She added, "Since he was promoted as a PSI, we hardly got any family time. But he spent as much time with us as possible."

More's daughter Anushka (14) says it's hard to believe her father is no more. "Baba was strict about our studies, but always spent quality time with us. I miss that.

He wanted one of us to join the police force."

The More family is happy with the recognition though it comes at a price. "The Maharshtra Police have done a lot for us and have even promised monetary compensation. We are getting used to the sudden attention."
