The young bikers who were caught racing at great speeds near Bandra Reclamation on Sunday night would have possibly escaped the attention of the police had they not tried to overtake a high-profile politician's car and scratched it in the process.
Said a police officer, "The boys are from good families. They are either college students, call centre employees, or employed in firms. We are checking if they were racing for fun or if they had laid bets."
The police claim that the youths who had come from all over the city had been racing at speeds of 80 to 100 kmph.
Added Senior Inspector Prakash George, Bandra police station, "We caught them to avoid accidents."
