The police has taken the custody of a Chhota Rajan aide for allegedly making threatening calls from Thane Central jail, officials said today.
Thakur was arrested in a case registered a few months ago at the police station where a duo threatened a trader and demanded money from him, police said.
Two other accused, Jagdish Talla and Satyavel Devendra, had allegedly threatened the trader and told him to pay an extortion of Rs five lakh, police said.
They also made the trader speak on the phone to a man they claimed was Thakur, police said. The businessman lodged a complaint with the police and the duo were arrested.
Thakur was in judicial custody at the Thane Central Jail at the time of the incident.
After obtaining his transfer warrant from a MCOCA court, the police today produced him before a court where Thakur was remanded to police custody till June 6.
