The Mira Road police posed as waiters at a lodge in Mira Road to nab a suspect dealing in fake passports
The Mira Road police posed as waiters at a lodge in Mira Road to nab a suspect dealing in fake passports. The policemen went undercover last night at the Ashoka Lodge to catch Mohammad Rafique, who had escaped from the Chennai police and fled to Mumbai.
The police here received a fax on February 18 about this and acted immediately. Pandurang Damale, PSI and in-charge of the operation at Mira Road said, "We set a trap and placed our men near the lodge. We assisted the lodge employees and checked each room before zeroing in on the room Rafique had checked into."
The entire operation took about three hours. The police recovered 23 fake passports of Sri Lanka and Czech Republic.
The Mira Road police will hand Rafique over to a Chennai police team, which is expected to arrive in Mumbai today.
