They came all the way to Mumbai to collect the coconuts not because it was blessed by Mumbai's favourite deity, but because the coconuts were a steal at Rs 2 each!
Nilesh Naik (15) and his younger brother Rohan (14) arrived in Mumbai with the intention of buying at least 50 coconuts each.

This was the first time the brothers visited Mumbai without their parents. "Every year our parents come to Lalbaug, but this time, they couldn't.
A proud Nilesh was all smiles about his trip to the city.
"We were never allowed to travel alone before this, but after this trip, I feel like a grown up man. Though standing in the line was boring, I enjoyed the fact that I was in Mumbai."
Every year, the mandal sells all the coconuts it receives during the festival as prasad at the throwaway price of Rs 2 each.

Satish Khankar, president of Lalbaughcha Raja Ganeshotsav Mandal, said, "Every year we sell almost 600 sacks of coconuts as prasad. This year, the number is expected to double."
Paisa Vasool
A coconut in Nashik costs between Rs 9 and Rs 15, so 100 coconuts would cost the Naiks approximately Rs 900-1,500.
