The programme was slated to take place at Taj Lands End hotel in suburban Bandra on the occasion of 62nd Independence Day, official sources said.
An At Home function for dignitaries from various walks of life, scheduled on August 15 at Town Hall has also been cancelled, the sources said.
The state government has declared drought-like situation in 129 tehsils in the state in view of less than half normal rainfall during current season.
