Duo arrested for daring Rs 4 lakh Kalbadevi heist

Eight days after four men robbed an electronics shop in Kalbadevi, LT Marg police station succeeded in arresting two of the accused a few days back. The arrested accused Chanda Rana Pujari alias Sanjay Suvarna alias Nagesh Pawar (35), and Ajay Mandal (26), according to the police, have several criminal records against them and have been involved in series of robberies across the city.

The accused confessed to the crime during interrogations and also revealed their involvement in several different cases. Following this, the two were produced before the metropolitan magistrate court and were remanded to police custody till December 1, said the police.

On November 17, four men entered an electronics shop in Kalbadevi and decamped with electronics and cash upto Rs 3.82 lakh. The accused had threatened the employees at knifepoint and then tied them with shoelaces.
Following the incident, cops checked the CCTV footage inside the shop and identified the four accused as history-sheeters. The cops then launched a manhunt for them and finally succeeded in arresting Pujari from Panvel and Mandal from Kalamboli Naka in Navi Mumbai on November 25.

Police further added that Pujari has been involved in series of house break-ins and robberies and several cases are registered against him at Shivaji Park, Worli, Belapur and Panvel police stations. While his associate, Mandal has cases registered against him at LT Marg, Oshiwara, Shivaji Park and Panvel police stations.
