A 45-year old engineer, Prabhunathan Gawandkar drowned in Powai Lake today morning, while retrieving some festival pot from the Powai lake.

A 45-year old engineer, Prabhunathan Gawandkar drowned in Powai Lake today morning, while retrieving some festival pot from the Powai lake.

The deceased with his three friends were regular visitors to the lake and are all were good swimmers. Today when Prabhunathan didn't emerge from the water after a long time, his friends alerted the police.


"Prabhunathan along with his three friends regularly swam in the lake although swimming is not allowed in the lake, which has crocodiles. We haven't recovered the victim's body inspite of searching the lake with the help of the fire brigade," said an police official on the accident spot.
