Govinda hurt after fight over food on set

A brawl between junior artistes and a group of govindas temporarily stalled shooting on the sets of Hrithik-starrer Agneepath 2; the victim has launched a police complaint against Dharma Productions

Filmmaker Karan Johar's production house, Dharma Productions, is in the eye of the storm over a violent altercation that led to a scuffle on the sets of the film Agneepath 2, starring Hrithik Roshan. Pravin Bhoir, a 28-year-old man allegedly beaten up on the sets by a group of junior artistes, has lodged a complaint against unknown persons and Dharma Productions, at the Versova police station.

According to the police statement, Dharma Productions had roped in a group of young govindas to form a human pyramid, for a dahi handi festival sequence, at Yari Road on Saturday. Junior artistes on the sets allegedly beat up a member of the team, Pravin, after an altercation. In course of the scuffle, Pravin, a resident of Mazgaon, broke his nose and had to be rushed to the Bhoiwada hospital.



"We had gone there with our dahi handi group, to form a human pyramid for a sequence in the film. We were all eating during a break, when 6-year-old Raj, the youngest member of the group, left his seat for a while in order to get a second helping. In the meantime, some junior artistes present on the set occupied Raj's seat.

Upon returning to his seat, Raj requested them to vacate his seat. But the artistes started abusing him. This angered our group members. Soon the junior artistes started assaulting us," Pravin told MiD DAY. "About 100 to 150 junior artistes gheraoed us, punching us and kicking us. My nose started bleeding and I lost consciousness," added Pravin.

"It was Parth who took Pravin to the hospital, where we complained to him about the rowdy behaviour of the junior artistes," said the member. The Versova police have registered the complaint made by Pravin against Dharma Productions on April 17. "Since the set was thickly populated, the victim, Pravin will have to identify the men who assaulted him.u00a0We will approach him for more information once his condition improves. We are also speaking with people from Dharma Productions about the incident," said Kalpana Gadekar, police inspector at Versova police station. Parth, the production team official, however, refused to comment on the incident, when contacted yesterday.
