35-year-old Chandrakant Ahire killed his wife and daughter; in another case, woman stabbed to death by robbers

It was like any other ordinary day for the Patils living in Bilalpada, Nalasopara (East) till the time they knocked on their neighbour's door and got the shock of their lives.

What they saw in the house of their neighbour Chandrakant Ahire was a horrible sight that they will never be able to forget.

Ahire with his wife Sanchita and their two-year-old

Ahire was standing in the doorway, calmly, holding the severed head of his wife.

According to Patils, a few students living in the neighbourhood had noticed blood oozing from Ahire's door and rushed to inform the Patils.

Patil said, "Some children came and informed us that they saw blood at Ahire's door. Suspecting something amiss I went over and knocked on his door.

Ahire opened the door holding his wife's severed head and asked 'kaay zaala'. I was stunned and immediately called the Nalasopara police.

Cops arrested 35-year-old Ahire for murdering his wife Sanchita and their two-year-old daughter. He had chopped the head of the daughter as well.

According to the Nalasopara police, Ahire was employed as a driver in a tourist bus company in Mumbai.
Inspector Shriram Koregaonkar said that when they arrived at the spot, they found the door locked from inside.
"We broke open the door to find Ahire sitting besides the severed heads of his wife and daughter. When we approached him, he did not protest. It seemed as if he was waiting for us to show up."

"He seemed to be in an inebriated state at the time of the incident. We have registered a case of murder under Section 302 of the IPC against Ahire. It seems that Ahire suspected his wife was having an affair.

However we are investigating all angles," said Koregaonkar, adding that the murder weapon was yet to be traced.

Rotting bodies
Meanwhile, cops found two putrefied bodies in a house in Shivaji Nagar, Govandi. Police officials were called to the scene when neighbours complained of a stench emanating from one of the houses in the area.
