Thane: The district court on Tuesday sentenced a 36 years old man from Kausa area of Mumbra near Thane to five years' rigorous imprisonment on the charge of raping his own daughter.

Additional sessions judge U M Nandeshwar passed the judgement on Tuesday.

On February 16, 2013, the accused and his wife had a quarrel, and she left the house and went to live at an acquaintance's place. The couple has two sons and two daughters.

On the same night, the accused raped his 13 years old daughter. When the wife returned next day, the girl narrated the incident to her. The wife then lodged police complaint. The accused had abused the girl earlier too, she told police.

The court upheld the prosecution's case.
