According to Director of the Indian Meteorology Department in Mumbai V K Rajeev, "There was an upper air circulation over the coast of Gujarat that is causing few spells of rain in Mumbai and its outskirts. This unusual spell could continue in the coming 24 hours," he said, adding, that these spells would be limited to drizzling only.

He also said that the geographical area which could experience such mild showers is likely to extend upto Central Maharashtra as well as the Marathwada region.
