The Railway Police Force (RPF) arrested a Jogeshwari resident who was allegedly running an illegal e-ticket booking centre. The accused had been running the said centre for the past two years and would charge R200 more on each ticket he booked.

According to the RPF, they received reliable information that someone in Jogeshwari was black-marketing railway tickets. The Kurla RPF raided a shop named 'K Enterprises' where they found Mohammad Imran Khan, 32, who was booking tickets through e-ticketing.

During their raid, it was revealed that Khan did not have a railway-issued licence to book tickets through e-ticket. As he did not have a licence, RPF officials searched Khan's shop and seized e-tickets worth Rs 50,000.

Soon, Khan was brought to the Kurla RPF office for further investigation. During the interrogation, Khan confessed that he had been booking e-tickets illegally for the last two years using nine different user IDs and that he would charge Rs 200 more per ticket. The RPF officials have also seized a laptop and a mobile phone. Khan was produced at the holiday court and has been sent to RPF remand till February 24.

"We got information about an illegal ticket booking counter. When we conducted a search, we found that Khan did not have a licence related to the e-ticketing business. We have arrested the accused and a further probe is underway," an RPF official told mid-day.
